are the settings for the lofi button etc… global, or can be different for each pad?
Maybe totally dumb to dream this way, but if this at least gives Roland the idea to somehow implement granular into Zen core I’d be so happy.
Audio-level mutes? Yuk.
no tails, but maybe there is a work around
Still in the early stages but I enjoyed manually sampling in a chain of drum hits. But after doing it I realized I messed up so I’m factory resetting it and redoing it.
I have the P6 hooked up to Ableton via USB audio. I made 4 audio tracks and loaded up (roughly) 8 kicks, 8 snares, 8 hi-hats, etc etc for two pads of 32 one shots thinking I was smart, but I need to redo it as a string of small kits. A kick, snare/clap, hats, toms, percs, etc across 6-16 grouped together so they all can fit (sorta) on a single stretch of keys so it is playable when live recording or reduces scrolling with the octave buttons back and forth to find your different elements.
But I’m looking forward to redoing it because it’s fun and easy. This is most likely how I’ll use it a lot. Erase all samples, load a basic drum kit or sample in a kit from the vaults, or create drums and hits with gear/apps or mic.
Since its new and shiny and I’m just in the baby steps, just some hits to get a beat combined with the granular and FX was more than good enough for a modest space-y head jam before bed last night. I also found myself remembering many of the basic shift/key presses during and after the first session.
Im looking at every little mono synth tucked away, thinking about every little $5 app or $99 Vst I haven’t used in a while, and have a great desire to grab this little guy and sculpt a few sounds into it. In fact, I will bust out the Skulpt synth and do a personal one synth challenge in the Roland just for fun.
Here’s the thing though, nothing is stopping me from doing it with my other samplers. I think it’s the battery, the very convenient size, and definitely the curiosity and excitement of a new piece of gear.
I really LOVE this looper. The most valuable thing for me is the headphones output, that you can monitor everything you record. I’m a keyboard player, and tried almost all loopers - RC-202 ($), RC-505 ($$), RC-500 ($), RC-5, RC-3, Aeros ($$$), a few Chinese made loopers. And finally stayed on this one. The most versatile for me. Has a good set of drum patterns for conveniency. Syncs all recorded patterns for the chain play (funny but not all loopers have this option…) Also I velcroed the flat 10,000mah powerbank on it’s bottom, and use the step up USB 5v to 9v adapter to feed it. Great and simple thing. For the travel needs it’s the most used looper for me.
BTW, the one thing I really miss here - the multitrack ability (Like in EHX 95000)… Therefore I’d expect a Roland Aira style multitrack looper… Yeah, will buy in a blink of an eye!
Can you tell it to change recorded patterns, via an external midi signal?
And when you say “syncs all recorded patterns for chain play”, do you mean it will time stretch the recorded loops to fit the current bpm?
thats exactly what i plan on doing - one track with just the S-1 sampled into the P-6, one track with just the Make Noise setup into the P-6, etc.
yessir im a Seattle native, heading out to the San Juans. gonna try to learn all the 7-seg hieroglyphics on the ferry ride
I keep telling my wife and kid we need to rent something over on the San Juans. I used to kayak a lot off Vancouver Island and just never get back over there…so nice too.
my grandma lived on Lopez for most of her life, im super thankful her kids (primarily my dad) decided to keep the house around after she died a number of years back. theres a family of bald eagles that live in a tree ten feet from the porch, its a spectacular place. almost got a job on the island so i could play caretaker but family drama got in the way unfortunately. maybe one day ill be an island boy.
Sounds like a great place to rent to a fellow 'naut!
I’m a bald eagle photographer also.
Someday we will get out there…have a nice relaxing time!
Another live Dibiase P6 stream. Said he likes it so much he probably won’t use his 202 anymore.

Shoot. I didn’t even think about the headset mic being an option.
He just blew his mind with automation too! Guess it took a minute to figure out but it was funny to see his reaction when it clicked.
To be honest from all the stuff I’ve watched I didn’t think MFX could be automated either. I love how happy that made him.
P6 just arrived! Looks amazing next to the Syntakt
Joking aside, the P6 was ultimately the thing that pushed me over the edge into picking up an OG Digitakt.
Back someone into a corner with a Rolca and they might do something desperate
Found a buyer so I’m tapping out on this thread. It definitely has a place in the compact lineup but the sample edits propagating across patterns compounded with the limited sample slots and sample management being cumbersome, I’ll just stick with my 404 and DT II for “work” and keep the KO II as my “fun” sampler.
Excited to see what you guys cook up with this though!

Never tried MIDI sync with the DAW. And I know I should. No time for digging…

By syncing the patterns I mean the chain play - next is waiting for previous to play to the end, then starts playing. I think it could be synced by MIDI to do that, but always did it manually.
You cant automate the MFX.
There is a Filter, Amp Envelope, and Pitch envelope, and Mixer section that are for motion recording.
