Absolute best headphones for mixing

Maybe my studio monitors have been spoiling me, but I can’t mix on headphones. I have some drop 6XX (same as senheiser HD 650) and the sony mdr 7506, and I reference with them, but I can’t trust them for mixing. I have to take them off and switch to my studio monitors (a pair of barefoot footprint 02s) when I’m dialing in compression etc. or I just cant hear it as well. Does anyone use headphone preamp/amps or other to get the best out of using headphones for mixing with the Digitakt?

I just bought a Digitakt and loving it. But to fully appreciate the experience I’ve bought a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pros (Still in the post) I’m just wondering if anyone out there has advice about getting the best quality sound out of the Digitakt with headphone as opposed to monitor usage? Usually, a headphone amp is used in conjunction with headphone of this range, is this necessary for the Digitakt? Or would it potentially colour the sound in a non neutral way which would take away f…

Hi everyone My friend plays a Roland octopad and he bought a pair of 250ohm DT770’s. He found they were a bit quiet so then bought a behringer headphone amp. The problem is that the DT770’s don’t seem to be transparent enough. My friend will choose his sounds on the octapad and mix the levels using the headphones finds the levels to be out when it comes to playing the kit back on monitors.
