R.I.P. Dave Smith

Wow. Right in the middle of his greatest comeback, having re-acquired the Sequential name, releasing innovative products like the Take 5… An incredible career and legacy, yet still taken far too soon.

Jeez, sad news, RIP

What a huge loss. I’m glad for him that he managed to get Sequential set up somewhere where the legacy will hopefully be safe and get the P5 and OB-X reissues out before he went — that must have been a relief.

This is really sad news and very unexpected. He always came across as a very healthy energetic man. He was present at Superbooth even. Really shocked… :frowning:

Sad, sad news- RIP :disappointed_relieved:

Damn…

I’ve literally only just managed to get my own DSI Prophet '08 in the past couple weeks - so strange timing for me.

Been a lot of these recently ay

Thank you Dave for all you have done. What a legend.

I rarely comment this kind of topic and share my feelings…

I read it as soon as I woke up, some minutes ago, in front of the well visible pro 2.
I know that’s life, but hell what a blow in the stomach.

Oh wow this is unexpected… 72? Too young!

Rest In Peace Dave! And condolences to his family.

I was already thinking … isn’t this the guy who invented midi … way bigger impact than any individual synth, surely?

EDIT should have read the whole thread before replying, sorry.
