Yeah, I was being unclear there Iâve seen enough of the influencers work with it, to get an idea of how itâs done. I donât need more workflow videos. Theyâre all versions of each other. Iâm interested in the results from someone whoâs taking the time to make something he considers worth a performance.
Iâm not sure itâs that off topic to talk about influencer videos since we donât have much else to go on until itâs released. On that note;
I donât totally care if I like the music of certain influencers so long as theyâre showing all the functionality of the machine, giving tips and shortcuts, etc.
itâs certainly a bonus if I like the music (Vague Robotsâ Model:Cycles demos are right up my alley!)
Itâs a huge drag that all these folks are showing us an unfinished product. I love Loopopâs reviews, but I wasnât sure I wanted the PT by the end of the video or not. RMRâs just made me feel really bad for him and I thought Benâs was awesome and made me more curious.
This is more like it! Glad to see Polyend stepping it up and giving us quality content.
It seems a bit weird to me too. As i understand in performance mode, each track can play a different pattern. But in song mode and when editing a pattern, it seems that all track play the same pattern ?
To be fair, the product can already do a ton of nice things. Itâs not like the sequencer isnât working. Itâs in beta which means there are still some fixes to be made, but itâs definitely possible to do more than what RMR showed in terms of making music.
Maybe if they spent more time learning the machine instead of streaming their first impressions it would have resulted in better content on their channel. I would be fucking pissed if I was a company, sent this out to channel with a major following and the influencer returned with thisâŚ
Like I said earlier, sending this machine to influencers, besides Loopop, is doing a disservice to your company and product. They donât invest time to make learn the machine and just want to ride the shitty tutorial hype train.
I really do wonder what Loopop uses in his own studio, the amount of gear passing through his hands! I bet heâs 100% ITB
I agree with this. Many influencers seem to once have started out because they just loved exploring and talking about gear and what it means for music, but now theyâre caught up in getting the latest gear fast, posting their live thoughts on it and then be done with it.
Iâm sticking with Ricky Tinez, heâs my favourite since he seems to be keeping busy making music that people actually listen to, as well.
Its Barker, if you havenât, you NEED to listen to his album utility
these days I only watch sonicstate and loopop for thorough reviews and Ben and Gear for being a talented, inspiring and knowledgeable musician + having great humor. Best channel imo
Other than that, only no talking demos.
For these I really like perfect circuit demos. They stepped up their game a lot
I think Baseck does a lot of their videos these days. Heâs excellent, canât wait to see what he does with this.
Yep, I like them, too. Andertonâs getting there. They do both talk and just play videos, which is great, and they invite the creators behind the instruments when possible.
Wouldnât it be ironic if the stores picked up on the influencer game for real and just made those instructional videos themselves? I can watch a Reverb video for specs and get as much out of it as anything from RMR. For performance, I go elsewhere, though.
yes he does
This would be great for everyone really. Only ones I want to keep are sonicstate who have been doing a great job for years.
And polyend if youâre listening: send us some trackers and let your actual users and target audience test them instead of Youtubers!
yes!
I want dat Tracker Experience!
who doesnt
Performance mode is that you can take a track from multiple patterns and play them together. From what I understand this is the only way to play different track lengths to get polyrhythms.
Iâve stopped following a lot of influencers BUT I like to think theyâre filling in bug reports and doing proper testing / QA / test plans and reproduce steps ⌠I try not to judge them purely on their YouTube videos
That fine balance between getting free marketing or actual proper beta TESTING
To be honest I hope they are, but I doubt they are doing any proper testing and trying to break things so they can be patched.
The main reason they got this is to create awareness, which yes they are doing⌠but with really bad content (except for Loopop who is just doing an overview which was nice) like cuckooâs instagram posts which were just bad.
I feel bad for Polyend because they have a great piece of gear which they probably spent a lot of time and money on. And then it gets sent to the YouTubers who introduce it in a shitty way to a massive following without getting to know it.
Like: âhey hereâs your very first impression of a machine I donât know how to useâ. How is that doing Polyend any favours besides getting a few quick eyeballs.
I wish we could go back to the days where companies would have in house talent like @Elektron had with @Dataline who nailed every product demo because he actually knew and gave a shit about the product.
We all donât know what the conditions were. If the received the device just a few days before they had to release the video, maybe that was the best the were able to product. As most of the other reviews they do and did was way better, maybe it was not them being unfair or unable, but different circumstances
