Polyend Tracker

I think perhaps the entire idea of watching a pair of hands on an instrument, and listening to a voice over timed with those hands, is going away.

I like Moog’s product demos. They invite musicians to write music with their gear. Sometimes, they cross cut to the designer or other key talent within Moog, talking about what this instrument is and isn’t.

But seriously, every time I see a video with Lisa Bella Donna I have to call my support person to stop myself from getting whatever she’s having.

Sweetwater and Perfect Circuit have been doing it for a while.

And they’re freakin good. :grimacing:

Yep, especially Perfect Circuit.

I don’t think anyone was under pressure to release a video. It’s more their fear of missing out on likes that makes them post and livestream asap.

I actually prefer the shop demos. Im totally done with the influencers. They rush to be first. And just seem like they polishing knob for the next piece of gear. It’s just lame.
I liken it to the ā€œhere is my first goā€ videos. Then there is never anything else.
Influencers :-1:t6:

Loopop and Rick Tinez :+1:t6:
They, both, seem to be impartial/fair
Sonic Talk :+1:t6:

Edit: ugh total derail. Forgot the topic

Polyend: I’m starting to think I’d like to try it to see if this format suits or not. Cuz currently I suck bad. Maybe a diff way of werking might help me get the sounds out?
Doubtful though. Feel like I just ā€œain’t got itā€
Its looking more attractive
This is actually the first box that I find wanting to have battery power for some reason. It looks like a ā€œgrab and go and jamā€œ box

Just send it to Venetian Snares for a video demo and be done with it

I know this is off topic ,
But I have to also point out that dataline was also good at avoiding areas of a machine that were blatantly broken when doing a demo presentation.

Watch those digitakt early demos , find one that shows midi …
It was fu#jed on release and ignored within early demos.

At least there seems to be no ā€˜no go areas’ on the demo presentations and honesty about features broken.

Sorry.(things have improved since digitakt and yes dataline is a good product promoter)

Has anyone ever seen a product badly promoted by someone employed by the company (book , film , game , tv show , album release , clothing range , sneaker etc etc… actors were trying to claim cats was a good movie!! )… of course you get what you PAY for.
Maybe we need an influencer discussion thread.

I’ve noticed a lack of elektron videos from cenk over the last couple of years however seems he is head of elektron in Berlin at present

We know Aphex Twin has one as well. RDJ said he’s spent ā€œabout 20hrsā€ on his, and he’s had no ā€œinput on the hardware designā€ but has made suggestions regarding the software.

Those are really the only three who I care to watch videos from. I enjoy their indepth overviews and appreciate the amount of honesty they put into their videos. Sonic Talk is number one for me, but you can’t deny the time and energy put into the videos by the other two. Also, I love Stimming’s reviews. He always cracks me up, and does a great job being frank, and fair with his assessment. Actually, on second thought, it’s a close call between Stimming and Nick.
One of the most annoying things for me is all the fucking sipping of coffee in other tubers videos. I can’t stand it. It’s developed into an unhealthy pet peeve. If I watch a video and the person says ā€œexcuse me a second while I take a sip of coffeeā€, I click out. Why!? It’s seemed to become a bit of a cliche. Along with having random stuff littered around the gear your reviewing, like rocks, plants, freaking cups of coffee! I also can’t stand the generic little thumbnails some of the more popular people are doing, with their surprise/wide eyed faces plastered all over it. I also don’t want to see your bad ass studio you just built with all the Patreon/Youtube money. I’m already jealous that you get to play around with all that cool ass gear I can’t afford…
Sorry, I have to go count to 10.

I agree. I probably give the nudge to Stimming because he’s less diplomatic on calling out the shortcomings of a product.

I’m with you 100% man!

Glad to hear I’m not the only one.
Coffee , edits , annoying ,block… unfortunately blocking them on YouTube doesn’t block them on forums / matrixsynth

Lolplop, benn n gear, sonic state… I’ll watch whatever they look at.
Others I very rarely watch unless the gear is interesting but they mostly annoy me

And of course they’ll send one to aphex , any hint he has one will make many preorder without considering the talent and effort also involved on top of the gear list .

It makes sense for polyend to give the tracker to people like Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Bogdan Raczynski and some old school junglists as these are the people that used and understand trackers.
No offence intended, but most of today’s ā€œinfluencerā€ crowd probably haven’t been near a tracker before this slipped through their door, which shows in their videos.
I’m really looking forward to Baseck getting on one and if someone could track down DJ Scotch Egg and give him one that would be awesome.

They should give it to Xtra Spice Mikey.

Lego, toys, cables, decorations :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Do you really think these would invest hours over hours just to get a free beta device (and not sometimes in the future but ASAP as preview before the device gets available)?

Someone else has already stated the obvious somewhere above: you’ll get what you pay for.

(@Fin25: just to be clear: the following is NOT meant as a reply to you personally)

Besides the needless bashing that seems to go on here (no one forces you to watch these videos):

I for myself like watching the average guy ā€œstrugglingā€ with a new device, because this tells me more about the handling of a device than a manual or a performance of a great musician can tell me.

Great music can be made with the most ā€œlousyā€ gear, but is it fun operating the device? Is it complicated or time consuming to do the easy stuff? IMHO that’s what these videos are all about: not a professional showing of his great skills, but what I myself would experience when getting my hands on it.

Polyend have given a tracker to Aphex Twin (who has
apparently given them some feedback) and Bogdan Raczynski did a video with one last week, so I’m assuming they’ve given him one. I was simply making the point that they’ve probably got a lot more out of those two than all the other guys put together, as they actually know what they’re doing with it.
Having said that, the Benn and gear video was pretty good and he was very upfront about not being super familiar with the tracker workflow. He’d clearly taken some time to figure it out and gain some sort of mastery of it before uploading his video.
