Polyend Tracker

I stopped watching influencer videos because of this. Waste of time really IMHO. That time is better used creatively.

It looks cool and all, but to me it doesn’t offer me anything new from what I can do with the devices I already own (and love).

Re the influencer videos, if they are technical in nature and show a few different musical scenarios then I’m ok with it, but when they are just the influencers specific usual style of music I tend to switch off. If you aren’t into their music then it can be quite torturous to keep watching

It sure is frustrating to spend an hour and some to watch someone wander around and digress just to do an awful four on the floor track that doesnt go anywhere…

Between the lines there is useful information…it is just few and far between…oh well.

Flashbulb’s review is great and concise but he is already a great and accomplished musician.

All in all the issue lies with the influencers.

There is nothing wrong in sending them gear, as it is how it works nowadays to get the word out on a new product.

At the end of the day, few of them make good music.

A lot of them learn devices in front of our eyes.

They just fire up the camera and record.

Some of them are cool, some of the insufferable.

Yes I know it’s been a trend, but in this case I just don’t see the point. With all respect to loopop, I can just as easily read a manual, but it’s nice to see it in action.

Besides that I would much rather see talented musicians make cool stuff than watch yet another influencer like Cuckoo or RMR try and figure it out. That stuffs getting old and in this case it feels like a disservice to the product because it can do so much in the right hands. Just give me a nice 4 minute track instead of a ‘mega’ tutorial that leads to the same old bleep bloop

Totally agree, give me a good old manual any day.

Besides, the only influencer I can watch without cringing is Beardyman.

I see both sides. But this gives me an idea !

Polyend and all the other companies that sell pre-orders and then send early production units off to influencers for promotion, should pick a handful (6 to 10) of their pre-orderers, and get them to agree to produce some videos, making sure they have the equipment and ability to do so, and perhaps assisting them in the process. Then a company like Polyend could proomote those videos on their site, and perhaps thereby create new influencers for the future.

This might be a good compromise. Would you do some videos with the PT, Zijnvelt? Do you already make videos? If so you (and we) ought to make a pitch to Polyend that you get a PT to investigate/review.

With things as they are now we need more good video makers.

I would definitely make videos with PT. No talking, just music like this one I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRsQ6wb6xNc

Could you put subtitles on it detailing what you’re doing too? I really like the music only videos that give some text so you can follow along. Also good is a detailed comment section. People like Loopop do a lot of work when they make a video.

I think you should make a pitch to Polyend. They’re a small company, they understand people getting started at things and they also see the value this could bring them. I’d love to see a good PT video made by someone that really understands the possibilities of using tracker technology for music making.

Yes, but it’s not my goal to make tutorials. Just music.

I wish they would have sent one to debuglive.

Yes lets keep it on topic. Can’t wait to get one. Wasn’t my intention to turn it into another debate about influencers, but good to know I’m not the only one here with this view.

Be prepared to get a unit that doesn’t fully werk. And these demoer guys…a bunch of em have to give the boxes back.

Perfect Circuit demos! :+1:t6:
No talkie, only ROCKY! :love_you_gesture:t6:

Yer tellin me.

BUT look at Red Mean Record, and the jock guys demo, they make disclaimers of functions that aren’t complete or are coming. So…that’s what I’m talking about.

So many whine about “oh shit I didn’t pay for a beta product” when that’s EXACTLY what the demoers get…beta products.

With all the fucked up shit I’ve gotten…I gotta say I’ve become quite adept at problem solving and bug finding. Surprised I don’t get shit sent to me for bug hunting. I seem to have a natural ability

Othodontists be like, “Let me tell you about my yacht.”

Yeah, I don’t think he’s used the DT. I love Benn, but he was talking out his ass on that one.

Another one for the road (no talking this time around, but a demonstration how to perform):

See, this is what I’m talking about. The sitting down, the making of a track, the performance from a musician and nothing else. Very nice.

Except that this is not shown …
