Polyend Tracker

Ah, thanks - it seems to copy instrument parameters too, so that is what I was looking for.

Yeah an auto move once purged would be a nice option to have.

I would like to have a copy row to new pattern in song mode (sorry if I missed it).
You can make a new row with a new pattern and then hold shift and copy all tracks over. But one simple command would be much more convenient I think

I’d also like to have a panning for whole tracks in the mixer section (sorry if I missed it :D), instead of having to pan all individual instruments

The downside is that you then need to edit every instrument lane in your patterns to the new slot, so I prefer to just leave my instrument list as a mess!

True, although a purge/consolidate could take care of that too maybe?

For now pen, paper and patience

So the last week I’ve been dedicating a ton of time into the PT. It’s an amazing device, i love the visual representation & layout. The fill mode and scales are awesome.

What does bother me (and it may just be me) i am having a hell of a time adjusting levels, mixing, and using the EQ to make everything fit together without clipping or sounding mediocre. I’m not trying to complete production within the box, just trying to get a well balanced track.

Does this have something to do with samples, or the SD card, or is it just how it is?

Click on Issues in the top menu, then the green New Issue button. From there you’ll see two options for creating either a bug report or a feature request.

this is something to do with the current headroom of the device, it’s been talked about here a bit, but yeah, it’s very easy to get a clipped sound with it, even when it seems that you aren’t redlining. the filter w high resonance is the worst offender imo, as it seems to clip even if you have an instrument at -20 db something.

something to note is that sample packs are usually normalized, so when you load some samples they are gonna be very loud by default , so i just lower everything by -16, -12 db and i’m usually good to go to avoid any clippy territories.

developers are aware of this tho and it’s something they’ll tackle for version 1.5

i find it funny that i had the opposite problem w the OT, it has a seemingly infinite amount of headroom

Any of you guys tried syncing with other gear? Sadly seems quite a jittery clock that the tracker has not noticeable when used alone but is when synced to something else I’m getting flamming on for example snares, driving me nuts. I’m on the current latest beta and I tried the clock offset but still not able to get satisfactory results, the jitter is still noticable.

I tried OT and MC-707, OT has pretty precise clock, 707 does not, but PT does not sync well with either.

Coming from the Digitakt, MPC Live, and have owned a OT i found this problem to be a learning experience. Haven’t dealt with leveling like this since recording on my Tascam 424 the first few times.

are you using 1.4.0 beta 2? this is the firmware that seems to have fixed most of the midi latency issues. i’ll sync up my OT with it in the weekend and let you know how it performs

edit: just saw that u are indeed on the latest beta lol my bad, yeah that’s kinda odd. tbh i haven’t really synced the tracker with other hardware aside from my computer, and you kinda have to expect latency when dealing w this type stuff so i haven’t really tested it in its best scenario. i’ll let you know as soon as i test w the OT tho

Yes GitHub… it’s pretty easy. Just a useful tool / methodology for collecting bugs / feature requests from polyends perspective but no more formal / complex to use than this forum in my experience

I’d be interested to see how you get on. Syncing to external gear I couldn’t work out what has changed personally

Try a value of -25
Works fine for me then
Be aware you have to allow about 1bar before it ā€œresolves ā€œ after hitting start

On the GitHub page, issues, the posts are marked as Enhancements or Bugs.

Check Enhancements. I think I titled my request as ā€œNudgeā€.

Yep - I was unable to use it with other devices for this reason.
(I also note on the latest fw that they are also just deleting an advertised feature that they never managed to get to work, so it doesnt fill me with confidence that they can fix the other issues)

How receptive are Polyend to feature requests? I don’t really want to write out a bunch of them if they are unlikely to be considered. I get the ethos behind it and I am a seasoned beta tester/request suggester, so won’t be asking for unrealistic stuff like more memory or things which could not fit in the UI or would not be within the framework of what the product is, has anyone here had features implemented?

@Stazma have you tried slaving the PT to another drum machine? Did you notice the flamming say on snares?

Hey there ! It’s still not super tight when the Tracker is slave, there is some flam for sure, but you should be able to fix it via the Midi latency compensation in the global settings.

I would suggest contacting them directly and stating your experience with Octatrack and other machines. I’ve received a few emails from them, including one from the CEO, so they might respect your experience in guiding the product forward for new versions. They seem receptive to me!

I’ll try that, hoping for a fix in the future, love the PT and your jams are one of the things that got me interested again after deciding I did not need one

Thanks :+1:
