Polyend Tracker

Do it. They seem to read requests and consider them. Probably won’t respond directly. They do respond sometimes. But I’ve seen requests just get filled. And the stoke follows

I keep asking Elektron for midi retrig

Ho woah I ve been wondering about it but looks like it is sold out, anyway I didn’t look so much around tho. I’ve heard empress zoia has built-in synth engine too…
Could you tell me how is poly in terms of playbility tweakability on the run?

Ok I’m on the github thing, lookout

4 days in and I really am quite taken with the PT, I love the construction and design, amazingly good given the price and the fact Polyend is not a huge company.

I do still feel that it is a little barebones and lacking in some areas, however given that firmware updates seem to be fairly regular, I hope most of these will be addressed.

From a UI perspective there is a lot to love, not too much menu diving, direct buttons, intelligent key combos, and precision of operation, these are all things which contribute to a good user experience, the edit and fill operations soon become second nature.

Whilst I think that it would still be well worth the money if no other features are to be added, I also think that it has the makings of being a stone cold classic with a bit of refinement.

Love it!

I agree. It’s at about 85% of what it could be at the moment it feels like to me. I really love it - to the extent that I bought two of them. I have written loads of music on mine. But it could become something really special if they can maintain the bug squashing while also managing to squeeze a couple of extra (requested) features out of it

I sent my husband (a developer) a screen-cap of @RPLKTR ‘s Twitter bio. He said, “Oh wow!”

My husband rarely says, “Oh wow.” Even to me. :sob::sob::laughing::laughing:

When was Tracker first released again? This guy appears to be using one in this video uploaded in Dec. 2018

Synced all those gameboys but I don’t hear the jitter everyone is talking about.

Must be a special prototype

well there’s a topic you can find out there’s also a poly effects users group on facebook is very active

In my case I ‘ve synced 2 gameboys with a lot of gear at the same time (303,101,909, 707,minimoog…) and it works really well.

At the moment the Polyend tracker doesn’t work at the same level, but I hope that they are gonna fix it in a near future, because the UI is really good and it’s full of cool things

A couple of days with the tracker - I thought I’d share the first impressions of a digitakt and renoise lover.

  • it’s a lovely piece of gear; slim, pretty, light. The grid buttons can be a bit unresponsive but otherwise all good

  • I was throughly unimpressed with the demo, preview tracks. I am also not blown away by the general sound of it. It clips too easily, the filters and live effects don’t sound that nice to me. It sounds flat. I know some have said it’s a neutral sound - but coming from renoise where everything just sounds great it takes a bit more to get that with this.

  • I do not understand the point of the effects that require rendering - it’s so slow to even hear the preview. I’ll need to explore them more but in my mind one of the points of hardware is to not have to wait for shit to happen.

  • despite those negatives it’s amazing what this box CAN do - there is so much you can get out of a single track - you just gotta get your samples in order. I feel like with a bit more time, getting a set of sounds I like in there (there are loads of good drums, hard synths pre-loaded, but I tend to favour more organic sounds)

  • I love that you can do longer sequences 128steps) and the tools to create variation and abilities to switch things up is fantastic.

So my initial reaction is muted, but optimistic. I bought it to work with the digitakt, and I can actually see them working really well together - digitakt to create the mood and meat, track as the clock and to add flavour - but I’m going to get to know this a bit more first.

Agree on the FX render. That bummed me out. The first time I did it…I had flashbacks of the late 90s….it was disturbing.

So I don’t use them. Not worth waiting for each iteration till you get it the way you want it.

Same. I forget they are there, as a consequence, except for the “admin” effects (normalize, fade in/fade out, etc.). Even a quick, rough preview would make a world of difference.

Idle thought, not being able to afford either right now - I wonder if anyone could get the Polyend to run M8 headless - that would be amazing!

There actually IS a preview function on the effects… it’s a little slow but it works…

Just choose the effect settings for the selected effect, on that settings screen one of the buttons below the screen says Preview.

Change settings and hit Preview to hear the results…

Just press Back to go back and cancel the effect or Apply to apply the effect to the sample
