Polyend Tracker

My current workaround is copy and paste into a empty track, but it is a bit of a hack, as it needs a couple of copy paste operations to get the whole track, rotate would be really nice to have as it would save time and can be used in a creative way too, like experimenting with offsetting tracks to each other by seeing what happens when they are rotated etc, not just notes but fx lanes and instruments too.

If i had one my approach would be like writing a novel. Just one page at a time(so one phrase at a time). I wouldnt go into it expecting to bang out a track in a few days. Maybe a few weeks. But 8 tracks make an album. And that means around 3/4 months for a complete one. I think this mindset could be quite prolific in productivity.

Hey Trackerz, which portable synth would you pair with PT for doing either raw jungle bass and atmospheric pads/drones? it should also feature at least a decent reverb/delay and I don’t mind if digital, analog but some modular CV int3raction could be a plus.

No modular or CV love, but the Micromonsta 2 is a beast. It has the range to do bass as well as blissed out pads. And its reverb is so good I bought the stand-alone unit just so I could use it on my other synths. Plus it has number of assignable macro knobs on the front for live tweaking. Really portable, too. I routinely run it and the PT off a shared battery pack for hours.

The only down side is the PT’s MIDI is Type-B and the MM2 uses Type-A, so I have to carry around a polarity swapper. Not a big deal, though.

For portability and FX (and CV) I expect the various Dreadbox devices are worth a look. The MC-101 is a CV-free candidate if you’re happy with a vast library of tweakable sounds rather than a full synth environment - it would certainly fulfill the pads, drones and effects requirements, and it has some decent bass patches too.

Yeah MC-101 would be a good choice.

Tracker + MC-101 is a great combo. No modular / CV interaction, but it has a lot of those Roland JV and D-50 pads, Juno/101 stuff, can play stereo samples, great fx and also @darenager DA-303 pack! With the latest firmware you can also run the MC-101 through the Tracker’s reverb and delay.

Wait, may I miss something, the new PT firmware allows audio input?

There’s probably a way that you could use the duplicate pattern feature… and use the backspace and then just delete the last rows ?

You’ve had audio input for a while, but now you can add reverb/delay and the master FX :raised_hands:

Get the latest beta installed!

Yeah it has for a while. You can trigger via MIDI and then record… newest firmware adds fx to the input

Edit @craig beat me to it

Been asking for that. Wrap around nudge. It needs it! [So does the freakin MPC for that matter]

Oh cool, it’s a few months my PT is off… hopefully I can have more time to spend with it after I graduate😁

The only bad thing about it is I don’t like to run everything -drum, bass, pads, fx- thru PT because I don’t like its master mixing or at least I am not able to mix everything as I like inside PT, so usually I write only Drums and Fx with the Tracker

Where do we send requests, on that github page? Don’t look to user friendly so hope there is another place.

Can’t seem to figure out if copying/pasting/moving instruments is possible, I tend to load up 48 samples at the start, make some patterns, then in sample loader delete unused, which invariably leaves them scattered around the instrument list, it would be nice to have them all consecutive.

I double the sequence then rotate the notes and chop the sequence in half again to wrap it round…

Yeah agreed, the Tracker sounds good for drums but a bit rough overall, so it pairs well with something cleaner sounding like the MC-101. You can get a nice mix on there and run it into the Tracker without passing it’s internal FX and limiter.

There is a feature request section on that discord server. Not sure if that’s the best place for that

you can indeed copy an instrument in the sample loader page, you just press copy (it won’t tell you when you’ve copied it though, so that’s a bit confusing lol) and you just paste it on the slot you want. no such thing as an auto-organizer tho, that would be quite useful.

in fact i kinda wish the tracker would have a little pop up notification thing like the octa/digitakt when you use copy/paste functions. something simple like ā€œx copied! x pasted!ā€ on the top right would be extremely helpful and add much more feedback compared to now
