Polyend Tracker

Definitely also hoping for further updates on fx.

So tried the nes emulator today. All the games I tried crashed the PT. Is there a list of working games anywhere?
Tried:
Mario Bros 3
Final fantasy
Metroid
Zelda

Not sure if it’s just dodgy ROMs

I’m absolutely loving mine. I’m only around 6hrs in (over 4 days) though, but this thing is insane.

It’s well built, logical and ridiculously fun to use. Very light on the lap so can be perched there for hours and it’s the right size, I just plug in a phone battery, find a spot and get some ideas going. The pads work like a 4 octave keyboard (mono), so it’s really great for jamming some ideas out while a pattern is playing. It comes with everything one could need, even a fitted dust cover and micro sd to usb. They regularly update and improve the firmware, so it’s a real labour of love.

I have no prior tracker experience. Maybe it helps a little though working mostly in Session view in Ableton (or maybe not), but if I can suss it out quickly then i’m sure anyone can.

I have 4 projects on the go so far. I’ve loaded my card with some of my favourite samples and just learned on the go. I’ve still some way to go to master this though, but when something is this fun to use, it’s no real chore to learn and really rewarding

It’s similar to when I got a 1010Music Blackbox. I couldn’t put it down when I got the chance to use it, and before that the DJS-1000 just seemed like a new world in simplicity. They’re all really easy to use out of the box, but the other 2 do sound better than the Tracker, but cost more.

No device is perfect though, so if they ever do a MK2, i’d love it to be able to play samples in stereo, internal battery and backlit buttons. I’d happily pay more for it too. Batteries add weight and bulk though and that might make it less comfortable, so maybe not.

Anyway, just wanted to big up Polyend and give them a virtual fist bump. This is a brilliant piece of gear and they deserve it to be a big seller. Easily my product of 2020 and current favourite piece of gear.

Battletoads will load the intro but nothing beyond characters and enemies after that. I kept falling off cliffs

Hey, all. Been playing with one of these for a few days and having a lot of fun. I’m stumped on one thing, though—is there no way you can keep song mode running and go over to the perform page? Whenever I do that, it just loops one pattern and stops running through the song. I’d love to be able to have the song mode running and also be goofing around with the performance parameters. Seems like a major omission for live-performance dorks like me. Am I just failing to see how to do it?

EDIT: Found it. Shift + Play from the Perform page, but make sure not to leave the perform page. Still, when using some of the performance effects, it gets glitchy and doesn’t progress the song, plus the pattern numbers at the bottom don’t change. Still happy to have it, though!

I’ve requested that there be the option to continue the song from song mode. Loop or Continue. I understand why it is the way it is…but I’d love to be able to FX jam on a song.

Hi, here’s Łukasz from Polyend. Thanks for bearing with us while we’re hardening the firmware. We’d like to inform you of the immediate availability of Tracker firmware 1.3.1 beta 3. We believe it solves the most pressing issues users reported with 1.3.0 and we invite you to try it out. We’ll be releasing the official stable firmware 1.3.1 based on this beta within the next two weeks. In the mean time we’ll be testing it extensively and listening to any reports about issues with 1.3.1 beta 3. Thanks again for your support and holding us to the highest standards.

Work on Tracker improvements doesn’t end with 1.3.1, we’ll have more to announce in the following months. In the mean time, we hope you enjoy this new release. Cheers!

1.3.1 Beta 3 Fixes

  • Edits on Song screen could crash the device when switching to Pattern Editor (#410, #662, #688)
  • Undo actions on Song screen now more predictable with 10 levels of undo (#591)
  • Correct stem alignment for tracks beginning with silence (#697)
  • Offline song export is now 20% faster and usually faster than wall clock song time (#697)
  • Offline stem export now takes around ~2x wall clock song time (#697)
  • Drastically improved tempo accuracy in song and stem export (#697)
  • Properly reset performance screen after ā€œContinue songā€ is used (#481)
  • Fill mode with beat slice: lighted pads now correspond to slices (#669)
  • Notes played with an external controller in Pattern Editor no longer get stuck (#151, #634)
  • Notes played with an external controller now use constant velocity if ā€œVelocityā€ is not enabled in Recording Options (#291)
  • Notes played with an external controller passed to a MIDI Instrument are now velocity sensitive
  • Protect against pressing ā€œBackspaceā€ accidentally and resetting very low master volume to 0.0 dB
  • MIDI OUT messages should not be emitted during offline song export

I’ve had most all the groove boxes and sequencers and MPC’s and Forces and etc, etc.

I received the Tracker today, watched Loopop’s video, turned it on tonight, and had more fun with this piece of hardware than anything I’ve had in years.

I thought it would be a chore but it’s a revelation. Never used a tracker before…now I’m thinking of buying a 2nd one to make sure I will have a working unit for the foreseeable future. No more GASS for now…I am smitten.

Teenage Engineering

unafraid of building the OP-Z and the best sequencer ever, others learned from and it will inspire forever.

But that overpriced op 1 though, still buttthurt over those insane prices. Selling waterproof plastic bags for outrageous prices. I just don’t respect teenage engineering anymore

Ok. I know that feeling from the Elektron perspective, as iam now with the A4 there are some bugs or circumstances that lend me to sell the Rytm in the past…

the latest video about the Analogs and Cenks question about a feature request was smashed so hard by one of the devs or CEOs that i was a bit concerned about any updates coming along :skull_and_crossbones:
and this reaction, break the boundaries Elektron :rotating_light:

Hi. I’m new here. I landed here after googling ā€˜polyend tracker+elektron model:cycles’. I was trying to decide which one I wanted to pair with my first hardware synth which is a Medusa(I used Maschine + komplete for years) and ended up ordering both😁

I’m an old school tattoo artist who uses making and playing music as an escape. I don’t really record much or perform for people. The last thing I recorded was 6 years ago I just like playing and am really looking forward to learning and playing with this new gear.

Also, I’d like to extend my appreciation to @RPLKTR and the rest of the Polyend crew. You make some good instruments made great by your guys’ constant support for them!

I hear Elektron is similar with their users. I look forward to finding that out with my first piece of Elektron gearšŸ˜‰

I really enjoy Elektron gear but never keep them for long even though I really love all of them. I dont make music either professionally, just for a hobby. The Tracker is a bit of work but I love it. I’m giong to keep the Tracker and my MC707 and a nice bit analog synth and that’s it for me…been buying and selling stuff for 3 years thinking I need to find the perfect gear and I’m done doing that…I need to just enjoy what I got.

What do folks think of this?
Added to the issues on Git, in regards to Sampling:
In the manual it states ā€œuse a mono or stereo cableā€, but, currently, when sampling modular into the tracker, using a mono patch cable, i can only hear the left side when monitoring the output.

Example: Sampling an oscillator to make kick drums does not require a stereo signal.
Enhancement request:
-Using a Mono cable to sample should normalize to both left and right when monitoring output.
-And/or have the option to quickly toggle mono or stereo in the sample recorder page, as mentioned by bichan17

chime in or thumbs up for the request if you dig it
