Polyend Mess

it disappeared after forum update, miss that too, looks like new default in config, or so

ZOIA is cool, but too configurable for my taste. I would end up spending all my time building new stuff in ZOIA vs using it.

It’s literally, a Mess! But yeah, I understand there’s some legacy stuff involved when it comes to pedals and no one yet has been able to successfully marry what is a traditional stomp box into something that is a crossover nowadays, floor and desktop.

The mod duo set of devices looked promising , was cheaper than Mess, but had no sequencer.

I wish Polyend good luck launching a new device.

Look promising! I hope they will implement three things:
interpolation between steps (to make the step sequencer less steppy)
go to next step with the tap tempo button. Sequencing on a grid has its place, but for ambient, improv, jazz, … it might make more sense to progress by event or by feel.
Some basic amp sim (multifx for my guitar or rhodes)

Great ideas !
I’d love a “next step” and “reset” trigger via midi !

I’d say the Hologram Microcosm and Chroma Console and many Chase Bliss pedals beg to differ.

I don’t want to “deviate” the topic: I agree that the sequencing it’s the highlight of MESS. The only thing that I can say is that the HX it’s the wildest and glitchiest pedal I ever tried, and I have two CB (and they are my favourite pedals) and two Red Panda and I tried almost every pedal in the market. The only pedal that comes closed is the Zoia, but the UI is too convoluted in my opinion, and the programming frustrating sometimes.

Does HX have any kind of LFO (that’s my concern for it and Mess)?

I think not, but it has a lot of randomizators and some lfos in some effects. Also it has two expression inputs.

Transport in - I hope this means we can sync it to our daw’s tempo etc.

What way do you see yourself using it? Is this live use, desktop synths, synths or guitar?

I’m liking it more and more, but I’m not getting anything new at this time. Everything is a wait and see approach.

I’d be shocked if tempo sync wasn’t fully implemented.
I wouldn’t be too surprised if it wasn’t rock solid … it seems harder to do in modern times than when Atari came out.

True. I wish they’d be more in depth with the information on the website.
Too many questions and vague demos atm for me to pre order.

Does it support program changes?

I plan to use a looper pedal or Push 3 SA (also as a looper and providing clock) as an input, and a violin as a source.
Or just as an effect for violin before going to my sound card.

this demo was confusing… they should set it up by itself, run one simple thing into it and slowly explain it

I’m sure tutorial videos are coming. I guess on Superbooth etc. you just try to ‘wow’ as much people and overwhelm them with different sounds, ideas, and so on. Also I imagine it’s loud, crowded and chaotic.

no doubt
