they had me at individual track lengths, and track speeds, now if they have a way to swap/arrange the order of the slots might be hard to resist
I’m personally quite intrigued by this box, despite my previous bad experiences with Polyend hardware.
I feel like a good part of what I do with Zoia could be done in a simple manner with Mess. It seems really easy to program.
I’m just skeptical about the quality of the effects, but hard to tell honestly.
Also, wondering how it deals with MIDI sync, and especially with non 4/4 time sigs.
yes, and we know they are listening so these are some good questions to be addressed
I’ll probably buy it, though. Then be angry, then send back, then regret, then buy second-hand then lend it to a friend and forget I did.
EDIT : Wait, 49€ for a POWER SUPPLY ?
pre-order of $599, wonder what the final price will be especially in this current pricing climate
ouch, here’s the thing though… if the effects in this box sound incredible, then dare I say it it’ll be worth it.
is the power supply proprietary, or can you use a much more reasonably priced adapter?
A bit more hands-on than the Zoia (and a nicer screen) but that seems very expensive…gonna be a tough sell if this market.
looking forward to your thoughts on it, what’s the eta?
I imagine everything is going to be going up up up…
lol, nevermind i see shipp starts june 30
This looks like something I have been wanting for awhile and is an immediate preorder. I can’t wait to have it loop back my OP-XY and see what sequenced effects magic I can do with my DNII. I wonder if the MIDI can be sequenced externally that would be fun.
does anyone know if the slot buttons on/off can be sequenced with the steps as well?
I like the look of this. I can see how this can be a simplified taste of the ZOIA experience, probably suited to a wider audience.
Took a quick look at the demos and read the specs. It’s not Zoia/Beebo contender, rather territories of Hologram Electronics or ChaseBliss - many of the effects are granular/spectral/microlooping. 4 fully independent effects in a chain that do not need to be sequenced at all. Based on demos, quality of the effects is totally comparable with Microcosm, if not cleaner.
It’s much different from regular stompboxes like Line6/Boss - I was actively looking for a multi-effect unit and they all have pretty regular effects, flangers, reverbs, amps, all that stuff. Only one granular-sort of model on Helix at most. For most of the non-guitarists such wide selection of cabinets and amps emulations would not work, I have a vague idea about that and which should I use, rather would look for something from the list of distortion effects here - fuzz, bitcrusher, diode, etc.
Price is steep, but look at the competitors…
Upd: sequencing makes a lot of sense for stutter/glitch/granular (and, imo, does not make much sense in reverb algorithms)
ive seen lots of flagging / hidden posts in here today… i’m sure i used to be able to see the content of flagged posts… cant do that anymore…
or did i imagine that ability ? … i miss it…
yep that’s the thing, if you have both sitting in front of you side by side which one are you likely to reach for when you are in the zone if the quality of the FX are similar?
that said I haven’t heard anything yet that stands out quality wise, but the night is young so we will see
I think sequencing reverb does make sense for some use cases you can get that echo scaling reverb that bounces around. Great for ending a song, or those pauses.
Ah, I didn’t watch that closely. Makes sense.
