Pattern Change One Bar Late (Elektron to Elektron ONLY)

There are many threads on the general topic “Pattern Change One Bar Late” but they cover such a huge range of scenarios (including non-Elektron gear), that I thought we needed a summary on ONLY the Elektron → Elektron case, which is much simpler.

This is my understanding of how things are right now.

MOSTLY pattern change just works.

You ensure PROG CH SEND (or similar) is set on the sender and PROG CH RECEIVE (or similar) on the receiver, and thats it. Somewhere during the final step of the pattern, the sending box will send the PC, the receiver gets it in time before the pattern ends, queues the pattern change and thats it.

BUT THERE IS A BUG that Elektron acknowledge at least as far back as January 2022, possibly earlier. Here’s the quote:

It works perfectly fine as long as you don’t use track length and so on.

Here is their answer when I sent a ticket regarding this problem 6 months ago:

There is a known bug that can cause patterns to change too late when the receiving device is in PER TRACK scale mode and the master length is higher than 16. This issue has the highest priority to be fixed, but it is unfortunately complex and time consuming. We hope that a fix can be ready soon. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.

There may be refinements to that set of criteria, but that is the basics of the recognised bug.

Recently, Elektron confirmed that fixing this was still on the radar:

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to fix this issue yet - but can assure you it is not forgotten.

Suggestion: Keep this thread on-topic (Elektron → Elektron sync) and if your concern includes non-Elektron gear please add to one of the other threads, maybe ? (There are so many I can’t recommend one).
