Does the MIDI import work without any problems now?
Retrokits RK-008 BLE to WIDI Bud Pro worked for me but Oxi MK2 to WIDI Bud Pro was not usable. It’s not a solution for everything. It may be useful in some cases.
I actually regret mentioning it previously because I don’t think it will pass muster with most people on this board. I find it convenient for walking around with either my RK8 or using my phone for experimenting with setting up my Koala samples & audio FX paths and later sequencing externally
Is it possible to send out program changes early on in order to make OXI sequencer patterns on Analog Rytm/Analog Four reliably? Thanks
Apparently it’s possible to send out program change early using one of the automation lanes per track, but nothing purposely coded to do so like the hapax, if you ask on the oxi discord someone should pop up with how to setup the automation lanes to do it.

Sorry for just getting back to you, and yes! I had an mki at launch, and a second time but the key commands and things made it hard for me to keep pushing with it. I bought an Mk2 today, though. I haven’t heard any music that isn’t heavily electronic rather than what I do, more trap/hiphop/pop. Some electronic elements of course, but more intricate melodies at times. I’m not sure how it will work out but I’m hopeful.
Many people here using this for this type of music at all?
I had mk1 and had trouble with shortcuts too. the extra mk2 buttons makes it a lot easier and totally in love with mk2 now.
I mainly got it to do uptempo electronic music but I come from your world. Here’s a vid of my buddy and I using dual oxi’s jamming out at 70bpm.

This was good to read, love the bass line, cool to see you come up with something like that on the Oxi. Was the synth melody/chords played on keys in the back or was that programmed on the Oxi too?

does anybody else use their Oxi with a “master keyboard” synth for recording, while also playing that same synth with Local Off? I use a Virus TI2 Polar for this.
Some background: I let go of my Cirklon and added an Oxi MKII. I already had the MKI but needed more track count. Yesterday my brother arrived and we wanted to jam together, each of us on one Oxi One (MKI & MKII). He is a trained keyboard player and of course wanted to use the Virus as the master keyboard.
THE SETUP
- Virus TI2 Polar as master input keyboard, Local Off, MIDI Clock set to Receive (not sending any clock back to the merger/Oxi)
- Oxi One MKI recording his key playing onto 4 sequencer tracks in Poly mode
- Targets: JV-1080 + Roland JU-06A + DFAM (via CV/Gate on Seq 1) + the Virus itself
- The MKI has only one MIDI input, so I merged the E-RM Multiclock (MIDI clock) and the Virus MIDI output with a Kenton box, then patched that into the Oxi
THE WORKFLOW (this part works exactly like I want)
- Select Sequencer 1 = JU-06A → I play the Virus keybed, hear only the JU-06A, and can record notes
- Press Sequencer 2 = Virus → I play the Virus keybed, hear only the Virus, and can record it
- Meanwhile the JU-06A keeps playing its recorded sequence on Seq 1
→ So switching the selected sequencer routes my playing to the right synth. Nice.
THE PROBLEM
- With MIDI Thru OFF, I only hear the sound after the recording (no live monitoring)
- With MIDI Thru ON, after some time the Virus AND other synths on different ports start to hang → stuck notes
- Yesterday it got worse and worse over time. Not just the Virus, the JU-06A hung too
- My brother (trained piano player) also felt the Oxi sometimes acted strange, as if recorded notes were placed too late
WHAT SEEMS TO CORRELATE
- Yesterday: 4 populated sequencers driving 4 synths, Virus as master input, Seq 1 doing CV/Gate for the DFAM Moog basslines, and a LOT of action recording → the Oxi was very busy → problems got worse
- Today: only Virus (Port A) and JU-06A (Port B) connected, less load → in 30 min the Virus hung only once → feels a bit better
→ So it looks load-related to me
With the Cirklon I never experienced anything like this.
THE QUESTION
Does anyone run a similar setup and see the same behavior, or is this a misconfiguration on my side? Maybe I overlooked something. A clear routing recommendation, or an explanation of how the Oxi handles this kind of MIDI Thru + merged-input + multi-sequencer recording, would really help.

I’m not sure what’s happening with your setup but I have something fairly similar in my setup.
My master keyboard is a Nord Electro 6D. MIDI Out from the Nord goes to MIDI In on my Oxi One Mk2 (via a DIN-TRS adaptor).
Nord is set to Local Off.
Any notes I play on my Nord appear in the Oxi sequencer. The relevant notes light up on the Oxi as I play, so all good.
My Oxi is connected via USB to a Neuzeit Drop which also powers the Oxi over USB.
The Drop acts as a MIDI Merge and MIDI Thru box as well as a control surface in its own right. My hardware instruments (Tonverk, Redshift 6, TR8S) are all connected to the MIDI outputs on the Drop as are my FX pedals for MIDI clock.
In the Drop, each hardware instrument has its own MIDI routing to send data from a specific Oxi output (A, B or C… the Oxi has 3 output ports over USB) to a specific Drop MIDI output port.
For example:
- Notes played from my Nord (ie the audio I hear) are controlled from Oxi Sequencer 1
- MIDI output from Oxi Sequencer 1 is set to MIDI channel 5, Oxi output port B (ie “5B” in the Oxi sequencer setup page)
- The Drop is set up to route MIDI data received from Oxi 5B to MIDI ch 5 on the Drop’s MIDI output port 2
- My Nord is connected to the Drop’s MIDI output port 2 and is set up to receive notes on MIDI ch 5
- Result: select Oxi sequencer 1, play Nord keyboard, hear Nord sounds
It’s the same with all other hardware (eg my TR8S is on Oxi port A, MIDI Ch 10, which in the Drop is routed to MIDI output 1, MIDI Ch 10.
TL;DR is I’d recommend a MIDI Merge/Thru box. I’m using the Drop for this but there are several good options like the Blokas MIDIhub or Conductive Labs MRCC 880.
Is the Virus then receiving all of the MIDI data being output from the OXI? I would look at an OXI Split perhaps so you can do some MIDI output routing and segregate the outbound traffic. For a setup of your size, I would look at the newest Split. For your brother’s MKI, only the orginal Split would work.
Again, I ‘think’ your Virus is just being overloaded with MIDI data coming back to it. The Split would give you seperate, assignable outputs to send out to your various pieces of kit.
Edit. Your ERM Multiclock can also do MIDI routing/filtering but it might not be possible with where it’s sitting in your MIDI chain. The Split is pretty inexpensive and provides flexible MIDI routing for the OXI One environment.

Nope, it’s not exactly the same. You have the routing/merging done by the Drop. I had it before with the Cirklon (that is gone). There I had the Virus with Local Off as the master keyboard and could switch over the channels/instruments by just pressing the track keys. And I could play the Virus or any other synth. Now I use a Kenton Merge to combine Multiclock and Virus note data into the Oxi — to sync the Oxi and to get the master keyboard note data. To hear my live playing, I have to turn on the Oxi’s MIDI thru option. The thing is: it works! I switch to Seq1 = I play only Synth A, I switch to Seq2 = I only play Synth B, etc. So the routing works in the Oxi, but it’s not reliable. Today, with just the Virus on Port 1A (on my Split MkI Oxi One MK) and a Roland JU-06A on Port 2B, it was better than yesterday with 4 synths/sequencers and a lot of recording action — and it got worse over time, resulting in stuck notes or synths not playing anymore. My brother also said that sometimes the Oxi acted strange or recorded the notes too late. He is a very good keyboard player. So my guess: the Oxi needs work in the routing department.
I could try MIDI filtering. But that defeats the workflow where I have one master keyboard on one MIDI channel and switch the active sequencer to receive the MIDI information from the master keyboard. That would work if you had a Keystep, for example, where you can quickly change the MIDI out channel with a button combo. Doesn’t help me. I guess I could look into the Virus multimode and work with empty or muted parts and multiple MIDI channels, switching the Virus part. Maybe that could work, but it’s fiddly and again defeats the smooth workflow that I know from the Cirklon — and that basically works up to a point on the Oxi! Like I mentioned before, the Cirklon managed all that marvelously. Now I look and hope for the release of the Kenton Interchanger and/or that the Oxi can improve in this regard and provide a more stable routing system.

IMPORTANT: I use Split 1 with the Oxi MkI and Split 2 with the MkII.
Separate Midi ports.
I am speaking here about the MkI. Until now I didn’t do any tests of this use case on the MkII, because the MkI is set up for this. It could be better or not. The OS should be the same in this area. Maybe the faster processor would help."

I use an iPad and AUM to do most of my MIDI routing, but I know it wouldn’t work for some of you all who are super picky about delay and jitter. I don’t notice any.
I have the Oxi connected to the iPad via USB. I have USB forwarding on and midi in filter off. I have one route in AUM specifically to route the controller (which is coming out of the REV2 through) and filtering for a single channel that is not being used by anything else.
Works pretty well. If I change the controller preset to channel 5, I drive the REV2 directly. If I change to ch 9 the REV2 ignores it, sends it on the through. Then the route picks it up and sends to OXI, which from there, based on the sequencer i have selected, I can drive any instrument in my setup, including the REV2, while recording.
The Oxi is connected directly to the Nano Tangerine’s
MIDI in via TRS, everything else goes back through the USB.
- Some MIDI interfaces can do this type of routing without the use of an iPad. It involves configuring it with their app. I find the iPad/AUM approach flexible since I can enable/disable routes based on what I’m doing

I bought an essentially new mk1 last week. Got it and I tried using it with my modular and 4 of the gate outs don’t work. Reset the whole machine. Updated the firmware. Rolled back the firmware. Tried different cables. Ports 2,3,5,7 don’t work. 5 actually works if you pull the cable out a little bit but fully plugged in no go.
It’s odd as it’s a used unit that a friend only used once over 8 months of owning it. Looks new. But those damn gate outs are messed up. Midi works great.
I’ve had like 6 Oxi 1”s or 2”s and never had this issue. So frustrating but at least I have a euro sequencer that does midi to cv very well.
It might be a good thing as a won’t be able to sell it as is so maybe I will finally keep one of these!!!
