I’ve tried both methods using my mini lab three and both are reliable. Are you talking mainly about the recording being unreliable or even switching between sequencers and having it track properly? Does it ever switch to the wrong one or something
I see you mentioned stuck notes and you have one daisy chained middy set up maybe something in the chain is causing some type of echo?
Mk1. They said it was from the 2nd batch a few years back and I got this Mk1 from a guy who said he had it for 2 years but had never used it…so I got lucky with a bad one!
I recently got the Oxi one and trying to wrap my head around this while reading the manual while creating stuff, one thing I can’t wrap my head around is that while recording the chord palette live, one chord shows up when I play it but it once sequenced it’s reduced to its basic chord, a Fm add9 becomes Fm, and so on.
I changed the project, no change, also tried changing the spread that I had initially, back to 0, but no avail. Does anyone have a clue?
Have you saved the new chord to a new memory slot before adding it to your sequence?
I haven’t tried it with the MKII so far. I myself use the Oxi keyboard mode. I just created two “jamming stations”: I use the MKII as my sequencer and guests get the MKI. I’m not a keyboard player, so for me the Oxi input capabilities are enough. But when my brother comes over for example (he’s a trained piano player, decades of it), he wants a really good keyboard — which the Virus provides. So I set it up for him so he can use the Virus as the master keyboard, recording his playing into the Oxi, but also use the Virus as a synth itself, because he’s literally sitting right in front of it.
With the Cirklon that I had before it was no problem. I just switched the Virus to Local Off, so the Virus keyboard only triggers the internal engine when it receives notes coming back into its MIDI input. And the Cirklon routed the incoming notes to the active track.
This basically works on the Oxi One MKI at first. But after a while everything goes south. Especially when you already have multiple sequences populated on the Oxi and play on top of that, overdubbing. It’s also hard to reproduce — for that I need to sit down longer, play, record and really give it some heat.
But when sitting with musicians and jamming than this is a vibe killer. It is also not immediatly going crazy. My brother told me that it starts like not recording his playing in time before notes hang and synths even freeze.
We sat down for hours and it got more and more annyoing.
Again, this happens on the MKI. I haven’t had time to test it with the MKII so far. I’ll have time for that in a few weeks.
Yeah that’s it. He needs to save the progression in the top 16 slots. I also ran first into it and didn’t understood it.

At first I wanted to sell the MKI, but the used prices are very low, and then I got the idea to use it as a “guest sequencer”. So the studio now has two places to jam and record with powerful Oxi Ones.
In my view the MKI, which you can score for under 400 Euros, is one of the best values on the market. It’s 90% of the MKII’s capabilities and has the newest OS version, same as the MKII. My main reason for getting the MKII was the sequencer count. Otherwise I’d be perfectly fine with the MKI.
Did you contact Oxi/Manuel? Maybe they have a solution? Doesn’t sound healthy.
I was told to take the back off and that worked…the metal back cover was interfering with some of the gate outputs. So, they mentioned covering the gate and CV jacks with a certain tape that I bought on Amazon and that should shield the jacks from the metal casing. Guess they insulate the jacks now in all the units but way back when, they had issues like this with one large batch and lucky for me, I found one of the one large batch units! I assume the tape will work, will receive it today and try it out tonight.
The tape worked…all the gates are solid now. It’s the same tape they use on the units now. There was some in that unit around the battery.
But, since I just bought an op-xy, now I’m selling the oxi. I’m sure I will buy another eventually!
I have no tape inside my MKII, and my power button works 1/8 times…not sure if the button assembly is misaligned if the PCB is too recessed away from it or what. Can’t really find a pattern, I just muck with it.
With the accumulator and some other cool new functions only on the mk2 the mk1 seems a bit obsolete for the price, no?
I think second hand prices are pretty fair.
I saw a new with discount for 700€ and thought that for that kind of money it might be better to just add the remaining 200€ and get the mk2 at some point. Then again I might be missing something while being too interested in the accumulator. Tbh I’m not well versed with this sequencer at all but I do find it interesting.
That’s a nice price. I agree that seems a better buy. I have the OG. I think it’s a great sequencer. I can’t imagine that you would be disappointed with it.
