From 1.01 release blurb: (at the top of this page )
We’re also nearly there with the next OS, which will address the MIDI timing jitter (causing sync issues) and Auto Sampler latency, alongside further refinements. We’re aiming to release this in October.
I’ve somehow missed this part that explicitly links jitter to sync and auto sampler latency, that sounds more clear and optimistic than some of their other messages. Thanks for pointing this out!
i’m sure there’s grounds to have faith, i believe the progress is sounding positive but may not be in its final form … it won’t be long, presumably this month, i have faith which is about all i can say tbh … i’m not the one able to make any promises, so take this personal update with a pinch of salt (it’s also my last word on the matter)
Yeah if they hadn’t already said specifically that they knew what was going on and planned a fix that would cover it I’d be way more pissed about it than I am because I sold a very good sequencer (Oxi one) to buy tonverk with the intention of it doing a lot of that midi work.
Obviously they wouldn’t dare put out 1.02 with the jitter being fixed. They know they dropped the ball and surely they are working 24/7 to fix it. The question is will it be within a week or so….
For those who are worried about if they need to return their TV or not or anyone who is having to postpone some specific musical plan because of it this is surely quite stressful and I’m definitely not loving having a 1500 dollar box of promises that can’t do what should have been the basics of expected performance yet…but, based on how absolutely delightful it has been for me to play with it on its own and even just sample in audio for mangling I’m feeling quite positive that when they do get this fix in, making music with it in a fully functioning hardware setup will be very fun and satisfying and lead to tremendous sounding results.
I think there’s a lot of people panicking about missing a return window if the update comes out and leaves them high and dry on where they need the device to be at
Another important point to remember is that:
Elektron’s business purpose is to manufacture highly stable, versatile and reliable devices for use in studios and on stages.
They are very good at this.
In my opinion, they currently manufacture the best DAWless sequencers. Effects have not been their strong point until now, but that is changing.
The Tonverk is a powerful device housed in a solid case. They will provide us with regular updates; otherwise, their business model would be pointless. We can be sure that there is much more in the pipeline than we realise.
Just consider the built-in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module (or whatever it is) beneath the plastic cover on the underside.
