OS Update: Tonverk 1.0.1

Tonverk 1.0.1 is now available to download. This update delivers a number of improvements and fixes.

We’re also nearly there with the next OS, which will address the MIDI timing jitter (causing sync issues) and Auto Sampler latency, alongside further refinements. We’re aiming to release this in October.

After squashing these initial bugs, we look forward to sharing some of the exciting new things that Tonverk has up its sleeve. So stay tuned!

Amazing update. The long list of bug fixes shows that the Elektron has been working extremely hard. At first sight it looks like the most pressing ones (apart from midi jitter) have already been tackled.

Thank you Elektron! :ok_hand:

That was quick :space_invader:

I think it would be useful to release the solution for the sync issues as quick as possible as a single update. These problems make Tonverk unusable for a lot of people.

My big issues remain:-

MIDI timing still problematic
No Undo/Redo
Sample Memory full errors still when using more than 3/4 tracks

However, copy pasting seems better (for patterns/seq & trigs) so this may make the TV more usable w/o kits.

Improvements

Page randomization now excludes dry/wet (MIX) parameters.

The device diagnostics files are now generated in a different format and are saved inside the DIAGNOSTICS folder on the SD card.

The Supervoid Reverb’s MIX parameter is moved to encoder H on Bus tracks to align with the parameter placement on the other track types.

Updated the signal flow diagram in the TRACK SETUP MOD page to show that Mod Env can modulate LFO 2.

Improved UI visibility by avoiding layering menus on top of one another.

Improved timing for multiple simultaneous keypresses to align with the rest of the Elektron product line.

Added a pop-up warning for when renaming or deleting a file used in the current project.

General performance improvements.

Bug fixes

The MIDI Auto Channel setting was not saved in the project.

The device could freeze when using the Transform action PLACEMENT: REVERSE.

The device could freeze when attempting to play a multi-sampled instrument with more than 32 velocity layers.

The PHASE 98 FX machine’s FDBK parameter could, via modulation, be pushed outside its range to produce too loud sounds.

Multi Player and Subtracks instruments could be lost after copying and pasting patterns.

Some characters were not displayed correctly in the NAMING MENU.

The AHD envelope graphics were not displayed correctly.

It was erroneously possible to load presets in PERFORM mode.

The PITCH BEND DEPTH parameter was scaled incorrectly.

Navigating backward in the Sample browser highlighted the next entry in the list.

The currently selected bank in the pattern selection view sometimes did not show the bank that contained the active pattern.

Copying and pasting trigs from one subtrack to another could sometimes misplace the previously placed parameter locks.

Copying and pasting text in the naming window sometimes did not work as expected.

The FX SETUP menu page did not close when pressing [FUNC] + [FX].

THE MIDI machine could, under some circumstances, display an empty parameter page when first selected.

MIDI CC mappings for Bus, Send, and Mix tracks did not work.

TRACK LEVEL and TRACK ROUTING MIDI CC mappings did not work.

Parameter locks were sometimes displayed when selecting a track.

When pressing [FUNC] + [SAMPLING] and then releasing [FUNC] before [SAMPLING], the Recorder would open instead of the Sample browser.

When removing a parameter lock for a specific parameter it could only be performed with a fast DATA ENTRY knob press.

FX LFO depth did not have the correct range.

Clearing locks on a sequencer step did not clear micro-timing settings.

Pasting copied trigs sometimes lost the pasted data.

Correcting a typo in the “PERFORM MODE DEACTIVATED” message.

MIDI All Sound Off and All Notes Off messages were blocked by the Receive CC setting.

Pasting a copied track sequence discarded all sequencer events after the track’s current length.

Subtrack presets saved without a full kit of samples could not be loaded.

Page copy/paste/clear actions erronously also advanced the active page.

The PROB parameter on the TRIG PARAMETERS page was not cleared when performing a pattern clear operation.

It was possible to toggle PERFORM mode while the RESUMING PROJECT pop-up was open.

Modulation on the Voice LFO 2’s MULT parameter using the Modulation envelope was incorrectly scaled.

Selecting IN L or IN R as the sidechain source on a compressor that was placed on the Mix track did not work.

It was possible to erroneously add a sample to slot A000 after changing samples on a subtrack.

An incorrect toast message was displayed on screen when opening a MIDI SRC machine’s parameter pages.

still high jitter on autosampling w/ 1.0.1 - happy the bug fixes are out but I was really hoping this one would be resolved today.

I think they’re on it.

A good start. Not overwhelming, but solid. Thanks for fixing the autochannel stuff. That was one of my personal pain points.

Based on Release Notes: Is the 20ms Latency not fixed and will also not be fixed with the october Update? Or is that a “performace improvement”.

I think this will come in October:

My seller extended the return period for me by one month.
It’s worth asking.
BUT:
…On the one hand, the device is now over €100 cheaper… It’s also worth sending it back and buying a new one.
…On the other hand, I won’t have it for two weeks. Going without it for two weeks is worth more to me than €100. So it’s staying here.

The latency is still just as terrible, but they said they would fix it in October.

Was this stated in your support ticket, it’s not specifically referenced above afaict, unless i’m mistaken ?!

Just to clarify Is this about a 20ms playback delay when playing with the mini keyboard/external midi? I felt there was something off but didn’t dig into it

Ah yes, I hit the sample memory full bug when I was trying the Tonverk at Bristronica. I showed Magnus and he said they’d grab the logs off the box after the show.

That’s a decent start.

I think the timing bugs are gonna take a while , I’m not even trying to sync this thing yet till we have a solid update.

I really hope somebody at Elektron is working on file management. No point this thing being able to take large memory cards until we have more filter categories.
Scrolling through a huge list of multisamples and files for sub tracks is not intuitive in the slightest.

I guess all good things come to those who wait.

Just a 2 second paste trig message (same as the copy one)

I still got the bug where Perform mode is on after powering up, although I’m only 99% sure I exited Perform mode before shutting down. But I didn’t lose any data.

See the following post, that’s what i mean. As i understand it will not fixed in october, is that correct? Is it not fixable?
