I’ve never even seen some of the bugs they squashed mentioned before…
Can’t wait to get home and try it out.

well, a bug is an unintended/unexpected behaviour - Elektron know (and knew) full well about this, there is nothing unexpected here - same goes for many related matters in other gear
there are always compromises when something is released and there is little doubt this will be addressed in some way or other (imho)
this is a simple idea for sure, but let’s not forget that it’s just launched - claiming it as a bug won’t change a thing - at least there are some clunky ways to work around it in the meantime
The best thing would be to get the feature request in
Agree. Stereo is not a bug.
Bugs with DT2 ? Transfer ?
Never heard about them.
Is there a related thread ?
Contact Elektron support.
There have been some defective screens, they should replace it I think.
Oh fuck yeah dude! Big brain move, simple solution for a really stupid limitation they’ve launched this thing with.
I hope they get this out quickly. I would like to be able to plug in my mic and guitar
I like to think Elektron are taking the piss by omitting mono sampling after years of users complaining about the lack of stereo sampling on the OG DT
Previously, looping worked in that it would loop the page(s) selected. However, when you removed the loop, it would be very disruptive and no fluid, jarring experience as it returned to the full pattern. Now, it seems that it smoothly returns to the full pattern seamlessly. At least, this is what I noticed through a very brief test.
For $1000 dollars a sampler should be able to record mono samples, out the gate, no clunky work around. Not waiting for an update that may never come. Especially since the machine can already play mono samples. My dusty ass MPC2000XL can, there is no excuse as to why that’s not an option already. Not impressed, and I’m not going to sugarcoat it.
I am glad they ironed out the fs bug. (And many minor bugs, too). The added utility (comp with DT1) is huge. And I guess among the buyers there are only very few sampler-naive persons who wouldn’t have the possibility to record mono with any of the other devices. And once DT2 is famous there will be an option, even if it was pseudo mono (like L->L+R).
I have many samplers and each can do something the others cannot or each can do it particularly well. I don’t miss stereo sampling in the EPS and I won’t miss mono sampling on the DT2. (For me, the DT2 sound signature is not so much lo-fi boom bap, that’s where AR and DT1 shine - not that you couldn’t do it - but the machine makes you do other stuff.)
Like with different girlfriends/boyfriends with unique characters and personalities. They all may have the exact same capabilities, because humans, but you yourself experience different parts/patterns of your own personality in the presence of/journey with one or the other. Experience is different, made memories are different. That’s why there cannot be the „perfect“ one, because of ones own limitations and being able to be only persona A, B, or C at one point in spacetime but not A+B+C, ykwim?
Ranting like this is not diing this community a favor.
But we have a place for this, if you really need to express your frustration:
You can also express in details how much you need this feature here, but please use a more constructive tone:

This thread is about the new OS that squashes do many bugs.
One of the first updates, certainly not the last.
I am very confident we’ll see mono sampling in the future.
are you unaware of the amount of support and updates that Elektron provide to a device in its lifetime? this thing has barely been out 2 months
My personal opinion is that this is deliberate and carefully thought out. Like this, the DT 1 still has a legit reason for existing, for people keeping it, and it also might keep a little better re-sale value.
Elektron might add proper mono sampling as a FW update down the line when the DT1 falls more into obscurity, but as likely, they might not, and keep the dual mono “clunky” option they have now. I agree that it is a waste of space, ram, and possible longer sampling times, but it works if you want it to.
I’m very sure this isn’t the case as DT2 supports mono samples when using Transfer.
This is probably omitted now because of time pressure or because they couldn’t finish the sampling UI in a proper way as they wanted it and prioritized other features first.
For many years people complained about the lack of stereo sampling for DTOG. They wanted this to work first on DT2.
The “on device mono sampling” feature will probably come in one of the first future firmware updates.
I agree that DT2 should have mono sampling. It wouldn’t stop me buying it though.
Have all the major bugs been fixed now?
All is a big word ^^
But the list is quite impressive.
well you can sample stereo into the DT1 and have mono sound on both channels.
you can’t sample mono into the DT2 and have mono sound on both channels.
in my opinion that’s just weird.
It will be there in the future for sure.
perhaps ostensibly to enable backwards compatibility with DT1 projects
