NM, I was confused with Tape Track.
Although I just realized you can press M2 on the effects tracks to see and adjust the send levels for all tracks at once. nice.

As far as I know, no. You can specify what goes to the Brain or Tape, and I believe you can play punch-in fx directly on one instrument, but I don’t think there’s a way to turn on/off instruments on the punch-in effects track.
Oh wait, just seeing @Tarekith’s posting now. Wasn’t there before, but maybe it’s been added to a firmware update? I’ve got the OP-XY with me, so I’ll try that in a moment.
I dorked it, ignore me. Though it would be nice if they added that m2 functionality to the Brain given how any other aux tracks use it too.
No worries. On the bright side, at least I’m updating the firmware!
Recording parameters for the tape effect… is it just me or is this a bit of clunky mess? When I hold a step (or try to hold record while playing a sequence) the values never seem to change consistently as I move the encoders? Anyone else having this issue?
In other news… I bought the op-xy project files from @MichaalHell ‘s Patreon and oh my they are such a lesson in sound design possibilities for the device… really opening it up for me … thanks michaal!
Nice track, heard it a couple of times already
Yeah, they are real messy right now, some locks sticks and others dont. I hope they fix that soon.
Ooh thats awesome! Im so glad that they are helping! Thanks for the support.
And just like that… it finally clicked for me! Reworking the workflow from Elektron which is more regimented to the XY’s more fluid way of doing p-locks and automation is quite liberating and it sounds less rigid. As long you accept that kind of flexibility and don’t fuss too much exactly what the brain is doing, or how the LFO and other components work together, you can shape your sounds musically and turn it into a song.
Yeah, just have to let go and keep tweaking and fooling around with it. I only wish now - besides sample to fixed length and time stretching, there are multiple undo steps so the experimentations can be more freely explored. Right now it’s reloading the song each time it goes a little haywire.
Is it possible to apply FX-sends to specifik steps? I’ve got som snares I’d like some reverb on and some hi-hats that’d do well with some delay on?
@Skyddsrum
yes. go to page 3 using M3. Hold the step, hold shift and turn the respective encoder.
Gold! Thank you!
You can also do it from the mixer page. Hold the step and turn encoder 3 or 4 1 or 2.
edit: oops
encoder 3 & 4 are pan & volume on the mixer page. 1&2 are the fx sends
How do you stop a Song from looping? At the end of my last Scene it loops to the start again
Has anyone figured out how to step sequence a chord that uses more than the visible octave range? When I enter notes then drop down an octave and try and enter more, it seems to deselect all of the previous notes.
Yes!!! Exactly this! Let it be the inspiration machine. You input data and then you let it do its magic. This is what it’s all about and that’s what makes it so much fun.
This is why I never get bored with it, because it iterates on my shitty ideas and sometimes makes them less shitty… and thats really cool!
I usually make a scene where everything is muted and just put that scene at the end for a cpl of times…
I hope there’s a way to do this on the XY. I found the OP-1 Field frustrating at times when trying to sequence notes up/down an octave.
That’s what I just did as a workaround, but I guess that’s the solution. Kinda odd they didn’t include a “Stop song” command. Maybe the next firmware
