OP-XY/Z User Thread

What’s the best way to connect to an iPhone? I’m getting the ‘this accessory requires too much power’ message

PS: They updated FieldKit for MacOS Sequoia.
PS2: Still doesn’t work (I have both Sequoia & Sonoma).

Keep calm & carry on.

Some kind of powered hub.

Is there any chance TE will add to the graphics. Whilst they are nice it would be marvellous to get more animations in the future and choose what you want?

That doesnt make sense though, worked fine with the opz. The iphone is even charging off the op xy…

Great music as always Jay.

Some people have been skeptical of the longevity of the punch-in effects, suggesting that while they may be fun at first, with repeated use they start to feel a little “gimmicky”. But I think that if used sparingly to create the occasional fill or subtle variation, as you do in your track, they will still have something valuable to contribute to the composition process even years from now. That’s how I plan to use them, anyway.

One of the factory patterns uses punch-ins with step components to only trigger every 4 bars, and it makes for a nice drum fill. I totally stole the idea and I love it.

Another thank you to @MichaalHell for being the thread savior and helping out a ton with questions!

Absolutely agreed. I think they’ll be valuable if used sparingly. That said, if they ever wanted to add more, or the ability to swap some in/out (like on the Polyend Tracker models), that would also extend their utility.

And thanks!

I think thats the bar to clear now for groovebox makers. The performance mode on Tracker is really top of the class!

They’re like midi only effects right? I guess there is a limit to how much you can do effect wise with just midi data. For what they are, it’s a great addition. Still find it amazing that you can apply them to external hardware from the sequencer because it’s just midi.

Yeah this is the way (that you showed me, by the way…thank you)

Yeah, I can’t even get Field Kit to open on my Mac (Apple M1 Pro running Sonoma 14.1.1) Annoying! Are there other options for OSX users to get samples onto this thing?

R

Note that no “main window” will open up when using Field Kit. This confused me too when I first used it. Look in your menu bar to see if it’s running…

Is there a sample storage limit on how many samples you can have? It keeps crashing and deleting all my samples once im around 4k samples, i have 6k samples to put on it.

Agreed. The Polyend Tracker has my very favourite performance effects (aside from Octatrack scenes).

Both the OP-XY and Tracker have MIDI effects, but the Tracker demonstrates just how much you can do with those effects.

And for what it’s worth, I’ll say that the thing I’m currently missing most is being able to turn off the punch-in fx for some melodic instruments, i.e. to keep the bass going strong and steady while you goof around with the other melodic parts. Mostly I’m just really loving having this device around. It makes my days better, and travels well with me.

ha, wow, there it was – hiding behind my notch. OK, well, I’ll take the L on that one. Feeling hopeful it will work for me!

Can’t you choose which tracks get sent to the punch-in fx?
