I grabbed some cheap JBL usb c headphones, designed mostly for smartphones, etc, but they do work and sound great with the XY because it supports usb host. My question is, it’s there a way to control volume? Neither the headphones inline volume control or the volume pot on the XY do anything.
Very interesting - but I’d be more interested in the same device that could attach (permanently glued, or velcro) above the 4 knobs, flush with the OPZ rather than set ontop of the OPZ
Navigate to the page where the levels of the master compressor, melodic and drum tracks can be adjusted. There’s a master level as well. Should be the third page of the mixer section, iirc.
did some testing with my xy and ep133 because back when i had an op-1f and i linked it up with the ep133, song position was kind of working for me, but not really in a useable way. if i remember correctly, the ep133 was sending midi to the op-1f and the op-1f followed song position for the first 8 bars, because my first scene on the ep133 was 8 bars. but the op-1f has a linear timeline, which is not available on the op-xy or the ep133. so i just dont know how song position on the op-xy would be possible considering the scene architecture like they use in the ep133. like how can it know which scene bars 9-16 should be found in? maybe in song mode it works?
Hey is there a place where we can share presets? I dont make them usually. But im more of a rock and roller singer songwriter type (elektronauts has given me a special exemption to be here). So i like acoustic drums in my samplers.
Thus, i made several acoustic drum kits sampled from logics drumkit designer. I do 3-4 kicks and 3-4 snares at different velocities (since these drum kits sample drummers hitting at different velocities) and then emphasis on hi hats, crashes, rides, claps, tambourines after that to add to 24. Lemme know if you want em!
Sampling help needed.
I have my XY connected (audio and midi) to an MS20 clone. I want to sample a single note so I can play a chord. I’m in the “synth” sampler.
My question is, how can I sample a note from the MS-20, while also using the XY to trigger that note?
I can do this in the multisampler. You just press the key and it plays the on a connected midi device. But not in the synth sampler. There, press a key only samples, and it doesn’t trigger.
I was just going through this the other day with my Oberheim SEM.
The workaround I found was to record a single held note in the sequencer, and then on the multi-sampler page, hitting the play button to start it and sample that note. Then go back to the sequencer, change the note, repeat for the next sample.
Not ideal but worked well.
That’s what I’ve been doing too! I was hoping there was a quicker way, but this will do.
Yesterday I was able to resample in the drum rack triggering the same drum rack samples and using external midi controller for the modulation and external fx send. A bit quirky but it worked out.
Why not just use the multi sampler? It’s essentially the same as the regular sampler?
That’s a good idea. I seem to remember some differences between the samplers, but for my purposes they probably don’t matter.
You can set each track to output on a specific midi channel in the settings.
as an exampleyou have the MS20 clone on midi channel 1 sample from OP-XY track 1 (which is set to transmit to midi channel 1) go to sample page and hold the rec button and press the key. This triggers the ms20.
That’s only in the multisample engine right?
I have the midi settings like you say, but when I press a key in the sampler engine, it just enters record mode and waits for a sound. It doesn’t send the midi trigger
While we’re on sampling engines. Just wondering what an ideal loop sampler engine would look like?
Trigger recording in sync would obviously be amazing and setting how many bars to capture. Wondering what other features might be useful. Endless overdubbing?
Also: excluding it from the drum punch in fx
You can do this with the delay. Just play with the feedback. It’s not the same obviously, but it’s fun and can sound great
Really… i will check it out myself… i will add that as a feature request if it doesn’t work.
What’s the consensus on a usb-c hub to connect to an iPad that will allow me to send audio from op-xy from usb into AUM for audio processing and back into op-xy? I want to plug my headphones into the op-xy ideally. I understand the hub should be powered. What usb-c hub works for you?
Also, while I have you on the line, is there a way to shift whole patterns left or right like on the op-z?
no, and there probably never will be, which sucks imo ![]()
@Mistercharlie you are correct, it doesnt work in sampler.
if i were you i would just stick to multi sampler. since it behaves in the same way as the sampler.
Interesting, is there a technical reason why it couldn’t happen?
