I use this USB hub to connect an iPad and the OP-XY, also have a UA interface and a 2TB SSD for samples and such attached to it. Not the cheapest, but it works well for me. Amazon.com
You don’t need a hub for that. Just a USB-C cable between the XY and the iPad. The XY is the audio interface, and you can hear the iPad audio via its headphones or speaker
I thought that would be the case but I couldn’t seem to get it working. Must be user error. I will try again ! Thank you for chiming in
Have you set the XY’s audio input to USB, and also enabled it? It’s on utility track 5
Ok, yep I did all of that and realize my main issue is not being able to turn off monitoring in AUM. I get screaming feedback as audio goes out of opxy into AUM and back to the op-xy. I guess that brings me back to why I think I need a hub. I’d probably be better off monitoring from the iPad, I think. I saw a tutorial for using op-xy with Koala but it worked with that because koala has the option to disable monitoring.
I never tried using just a USB cable between the two, I should give that a look after work today. I use the interface to monitor from the iPad, it works very well. I also have a guitar plugged into the interface, and it, the iPad, the OP-XY, and the SSD with samples are all connected via USB-C, carrying audio and MIDI. Very neat and tidy, and allows me to jam with the OP-XY along with sequencers, instruments, and guitar amp sims on the iPad.
Shift & + or - is used to shift all the steps on the current track up or down an octave. Which is a bummer, because I really really want to be able to shift a sequence in time. ![]()
same here, big time.
Global Groove Settings (Tempo Screen)
The Tempo screen allows you to apply a master groove and swing/shuffle amount to the entire project.
- Enter the Tempo screen by pressing the Tempobutton.
- Adjust the groove style using the mid-gray knob (groove type). Options include Shuffle, Half Shuffle, Bombora, Wobbly, Gaussian, Accents, Island Nod, Disfunk, Roll Over, and Prophetic.
- Adjust the groove amount (swing/shuffle) using the light gray knob:
- Rotate clockwise past the center line to add swing.
- Rotate counter-clockwise to add shuffle.
Track-Specific Groove Settings (Sequencer Screen)
You can also apply a specific groove to individual tracks, which will overwrite the global swing value set in the Tempo screen for that track.
- Select the desired track using the 8 track buttons.
- Enter the Sequencer settings (accessible via the Bar button).
- Adjust the groove amount for that track by rotating the light gray knob.
- The specific groove style is selected in the global Tempo screen, but its intensity can be set per track here.
Nudging Steps
For fine-tuning the timing of individual notes, you can use the nudge feature:
- Hold down a step on the sequencer.
- Press the (-) or (+) buttons to make fine adjustments to its timing (notes can only be nudged if track quantization is not set to 100).
Sorry - I’m talking about shifting an entire sequence left or right in a pattern, i.e. moving every note forward or backward one or more steps in order to have the sequence start on a different step, rather than applying swing. But thanks! ![]()
** like holding [FUNC] and pressing the [LEFT] or [RIGHT] arrow on an Elektron box while in grid recording.
It’s a huge bummer if they can’t implement this. I always end up needing to shift notes around. You can’t even copy a specific page to another one or copy multiple steps at once.
That sounds super awesome!! I think I might need to go that route and add a class compliant interface. I was trying to keep it minimal though
Right, that’s what it does… I forgot that.
I can’t seem to figure out, why I hear double triggers, when I connect my OP-1 F to my OP-XY via USB, and send headphones out from XY to my AiAiAi unit 4 speakers (or other speakers).
How should I set this up, for both OP-1F and XY to play normally via headphones or audio out on XY
under midi settings you should choose which device receives and/or sends notes, clock, ctrl etc.
I think you’re in a midi loopback maybe triggering the sequencer on the op1f accidentaly or vice versa ![]()
The mixer EQ is not p-lockable, isn’t it?
I want a pattern to filter fade in, beginning with only lows and ending with the specific track filter setting, wich is a high pass, but I still want that sound to start with the remaining low end and then the filter opens up. Therefore I thought I could use the mixer EQ, but it looks like I can’t p-lock it…
Hmm. I have just set all midi to off. Thinking only audio goes through USB then. But still getting a weird delay kind of effect from the OP-1F.
Any hints to a Firmware Update before Christmas?
maybe you’re retriggering the sequencer, endless for instance
im guessing its a weird usb audio loopback thing considering both send and receive audio over usb. the simplest solution may be to just use a TRS cable instead. im not sure how to disable usb input monitoring
