The MPC Live 2 and MPC One+ have the same number of inputs… on the MPC Live 2 it is still only a pair of mono inputs (1/2), you just get the phono style RCA jacks.
If you like the battery and speaker already… Wait until you find a use for the CV outputs
Not where I’m from, in the US. I found 8 MPC’s selling locally. There was an MPC One selling for $350 so I snagged it.
Side note:
Summary
This is my third time owning one of the newer MPC’s. I typically prefer the workflow and features of my M8 and Octatrack, but I wanted a more “playable” sampler to use in a specific performance, and the new disk streaming feature in 3.0 is enticing.
Also, the thing I always loved about the MPC paradigm is the ability to record long polyphonic sequences of midi using an external sequencer. I can’t wait to try this out with my T-1
A standalone production - 2.15 to be specific (haven’t had the time to try the beta yet).
This one feels special to me because it’s the first time we’ve made a song from scratch where we didn’t feel the need to change things in Ableton. Except for the usual samples, all sounds and effects are from the MPC (Solina, Hype, TubeSynth, and Jura), either directly or resampled.
Even the reverbs and delays from the MPC made it into the final song. Which says a lot to me given how much I’ve complained about the reverbs in the past.
Finally it’s also mixed on the MPC itself, with just a little glue compression in Ableton. That process doesn’t even feel heavy to me because it’s a thing that happens naturally as I sketch out a song nowadays. I love that I can quickly dial in some eq right from the outset when introducing a new element to the song, rather than having to accept its flaws and hoping to fix it later. This sets the MPC apart from my other grooveboxes like the Syntakt or the Polyend Tracker+/Mini. These capabilities of the MPC make it so straightforward to build up a song.
Love the song! I enjoyed listening to and watching your video. Thank you! Way up the thread I believe someone was saying they can’t find good examples of non-hip hop music made with the MPC.
This meets the qualifications. You can indeed make other music if you so desire. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, really appreciate it! We had fun recording and shooting the video. One of the hottest days of the early summer, out with the camper van with a good friend and lots of cold beverages.
Yeah, it’s extremely versatile. I guess all of our MPC jams qualify as examples of non-hip hop music on the MPC but there are many other great examples of it.
Amazing piece!!! i really like the job you did with the mix. The low end is present but not over bearing, nice spread of instruments and the spacing is really great. It sounds like some really nice chilled out trance from classic compilations i used to listen to. well done
The more I mess with 3.0 the more I like it. You can have a template that lets you build a full track in minutes and never leave the main screen. It’s dangerously fast. Editing midi however…
If I can help it I’d rather just record everything straight to audio and loop. Even with playing plugin stuff there’s this thing where when recording MIDI if you’re holding down your sustain pedal before the 1 and it starts recording it’ll kill your sustain. You have to unpress and press again. Just stuff like that.
