Liquid Conan is where it’s at!
Just to keep it even. Here’s video for the 2.0 lovers:
I hear what’s he’s talking about, but most if not all of the things he’s complaining about can be done on 3.0
@benway is this you or a friend of yours?
Seriously are these the issues you have with the MPC3?
I heart it for your text not for his words.
“A bunch of songs in one project” that’s insane why the duck would anyone do that
but yeah he can still have a bunch of songs in one project in 3.0
Heh, I’m pretty much thinking the same thing when I see the stuff people are happy about. It’s kinda amazing how different people’s perspectives are, my experience of reading this thread involves a lot of this.
Maybe I’m just a simple guy who likes making simple music out of simple chopped samples on a simple MPC, but for my money 3.0 goes backwards everywhere that actually matters, while the stuff it’s better at either doesn’t matter to me or I have other gear that in my view is infinitely better at the same thing.
Funny enough I finally reverted just there - tbh I’m pretty much done giving headspace to this update, so probably won’t be watching that or anything else about MPC 3.0 at least for another few versions.
Still glad I gave it a chance and it was kinda fun trying to figure it out, but ultimately I don’t want to work the way it wants me to work, and while there are workarounds in some instances the satisfaction of finding a solution isn’t worth the time and trouble when that solution just ends up being not as good as what I already had. And ultimately I want to be making music, not fighting with gear.
But glad it’s working out for the rest of you, maybe in a few updates they’ll even things out to the point that I’ll feel like jumping back in.
I understand you, I and all of us are also missing options that were in v2, we did not overlook the mutes, nor the time signatures, nor the midi errors, nor the simple arranger and graphics that disappear, nor details like the invisible letters , etc etc, it’s not that we believe that it’s going to stay that way and that we resign ourselves, these are very obvious things even for them, I think that the majority of people who have the beta do not have it to make this year’s hit nor do we expect to work normally , it is an adventure and we are aware, we are testing it, sending error reports, addressing bugs and sending positive feedback of ideas that could also be implemented with this new environment.
Please do not get me wrong, the forums are for giving opinions and I respect your position, but I wonder are you really doing what is expected (recognizing errors and reporting them), or are you just using v3 hoping to make music like you normally did in v2. Imagine that we were all talking in forums all day about how bad this is, how bad what is beyond…
I see that you have made an effort to make us understand you, that same effort would make more sense and would give more results at
https://forms.office.com/r/Dc08HSutAV https://forms.office.com/r/zfb7GymJGp
we already know what is wrong, we already know what is missing… and maybe some of us are missing more things of those that you think you are missing, because as you say you only give it a simple use… go back to v2 and think that your complaints have more effect and legitimacy where they are expected.
So what is happening with the force, is this the black sheep of the family. Haven’t heard about it and upgrades.
You can reorder tracks. But only sequentially. Before you could have a track on 1, 9 and 15 if you wanted. It was great for ordering sequences vertically. Diff drums parts down the first row, synth on second etc.
I just thought it very convenient to be able to place them where you wanted.
I guess I could load them all up with dummy tracks. And just not name the ones I didn’t want to use.
Something funny happened to me tonight…I should say, when I got my Live 2 it was because the price was right and it has more inputs and outputs than the One+. Phono inputs is pretty cool too. The fact that it has a battery and built in speaker meant absolutely nothing to me for my use.
Well, tonight I got invited to a party before my gig. The whole time I was there I was thinking I should’ve rehearsed my set more, but didn’t want to go home and set up my gear again. Then it occurred to me, MY LIVE 2 HAS A BUILT IN SPEAKER AND BATTERY!!! Ha! Excused myself from the party a little early and rehearsed my set in my truck outside of the venue. Guess that came in handy after all
Because it’s wating for the MPC OS to catch up. Haven’t the “new” MPC3 features made you realize that? Most of the major changes to 3.0 we’re already on the Force years ago & there still a lot they haven’t included & some stuff I don’t they can, but very interested to see what the red mysterious ninja does next.
Akai mentioned that it’ll be upgrade in the future & will get the new plugins, but I hope gets some Force related QOL improvements, like scene follow & more then 1 arranger. I’m guessing that the new update will arrive around time of the release of the official MPC3.
Because of the MPC 2.0 has so many ways on doing stuff it can be difficult to understand another’s workflow without seeing it played out on video.
I don’t own or even used a force, or follow it. Just seen them sell for cheap compared to mpc and was interested in getting one
OK. The Force is like the MPC with a clip based sequencer, the same sample engine, 64 pads & a crossfader as a macro that has side A & B & each side can have 128 parameters set to them from the same or multiple tracks. The macro are still more advanced with it’s 64 pad macro & 16 envelop followers/LFOs. It has 8 Q-Links knobs with the little screen. Like I said before most of the MPC3 features came from the Force like disk-streaming, 1 program per track, the arranger, the new macros, the new mixer view, track & FX reordering & maybe more…
So, yeah it’s the black sheep, but it’s not complete new concept. If you used & understand the MPC, the Force OS is like a more advanced version of MPC3 with hardware made for it with it’s 64 pads that can used to play samples, a 4 octave piano & a 8x8 clip matrix.
quick question: can the modern MPCs record CCs coming from external midi into the sequencer?
recently found out maschine/+ can’t and wondering if the grass is greener on the other side so to speak
Motherducker needs to be updated. I keep wanting to be able to pick the frequency band it ducks, I seldom want it to duck the entire frequency spectrum…
Yes, MPCs can record external MIDI CCs.
I agree. I think it needs a complete overhaul.
Still waiting for this one, Mike Patrick Carl Oscar Nelson Edward!
