It was my bad for assuming the TS to TRS would work on the mpc input, I should have just used a TS in the first place and configured the input for it.
Glad you got it working!
Why do I feel like this guy is complaining about the exact opposite of what I have heard you guys complain here about track mutes?
It sounds like if he used track mutes the way they are now, his issue would be solved?
Maybe you guys need to switch to song mode and your issues with track mutes would go away?
Iāve never complained about track mutes. I donāt have any current complaints with my MPC. Iām sitting here with it now, jamming.
I am reassured as I explore 3.0 that I can always go back to 2.x and everything will be ok. Liberating really.
using midi tracks to control shits lets sounds tail off if you want [when you mute]
bring back the ability to place tracks/mutes on the track you want, rather than added sequential. like drums on 1 kit, 5 midi, 9 midi, 13 midi
allow for a sound bank, so we can switch kits on a drum track with no loads.
Just froze on boot up
Have you used the + | - control when browsing kits? This allows you to switch them on DrumTracks.
On your DrumTrack, just go into Browse, find your Kits and hit the +|- button to load them into the Track. Itās very fast and quite welcomed addition. This way you donāt need to load up a bunch of kits and take up memory.
So the thing I liked about programs was, you could have several kits loaded and just swap em while the track was playing. So you could have a few to swap between. +|- overwrites the kit you have on the track. I liked having a few kits loaded.
Yep. I get that. This method requires more file management now since we canāt load samples into RAM it seems.
I think the track mute issue on the MPC3 could be resolved if MIDI elements were handled the same way as audio elementsā¦
I thought the mute issue was already fixed and that they were just going to re-implement it or implement the option to run it either way?
do they have to go back to the drawing board?
In the mpc sampler, is it possible to set a 1 bar loop brace on a sample and then shift that looped section around the audio file snapped to the grid? I often do that in Ableton where I record a long passage and then dig around in the audio looking for a nice loop.
The MPC doesnāt have that feature, but you can chop the sample into fixed lengths and find a good section by playing the pads.
How I do this is chop as finely as I can but try to balance that with having a manageable number of slices - auto chop by transients for shorter stuff and by beats or regions for longer. Then set the sample to play through the sample to the end on each slice by going to the program editor and setting the end point for all slices to the end of the sample.
The reason for this is that I find sometimes - usually - the best loops donāt respect bar markers. I also find it a lot more jammable this way, makes it easy to jump between different parts of the sample to stitch together the best bits.
I used to scroll around like that on Ableton in the past but fwiw these days I tend to use simpler in the same way instead - it has thru as a play option to get this same behaviour.
I think possibly Iāve been a bit too fatalistic here, I concluded from a very early stage that the stuff I like was gone and not coming back - but @palm is right, there are a relatively small number of steps they could take to steady the ship without affecting people who want a plugin on a track so they can play midi into the arranger:
- Add a program pool alongside the audio pool so programs can be loaded to memory without being locked to a track
- Add a track program dropdown
- Allow program/plugin preset/midi track send to be saved per sequence alongside mute states
Probably from a dev perspective these arenāt as straightforward as they seem to me, but if some/all of this was possible itād be a massive improvement from where we are now.
Just wanted to ask again and see if anyone has experimented with using a MIDI controller w/ Macros and Q-links.
Thanks!
What the heck? Why is nobody talking about this soft clipper that recently came out and is modelled after the FL Studio clipper? Iām about to buy an MPC One+ because of this. Why canāt the DT2 have a clipper??
Too busy using it.
I had no idea what it was based on, but I do like how it sounds.
Actually, I just read on GS that it doesnāt really sound like the FL Studio clipper:
You could say the same about many of the MPC plugins, they seem to go under the radar but they are really, really good, good enough that I am often using VST version snow as a first choice even when on the PC based DAW, flex beat, flavour proā¦even some of the instruments, I love their Model D despite having softube version etcā¦
Air Delay Pro also a must haveā¦its just a matter of catching the sales (quite frequent), I just set alerts here on the Air and AKAI MPC stuff- saved me a lot! Music Software Deals - Audio Plugin Price Tracking
