Micromonsta 2

That would be wonderful :slightly_smiling_face: - thank you for your quick response !

That’s the weird thing - La Poste says that it has arrived to the destination country but what it really means that it has arrived to their partner’s warehouse (DPD).

A little bit down the La Poste tracking page there is the DPD tracking number which shows that it has reached the Netherlands this morning and that ā€˜Your parcel was sorted for transport to our next premises’. Some weird third party shipment thing, which is probably the cause for this slight delay.

Received mine, and it’s the perfect fit for my portable studio case

Played with it a bit, here are some hot takes:

  • Sound is pristine, I’m really impressed by the audio quality!
  • Filter is mean and musical, gives it a nice character. On some patches it reminds me of my Nova synth, which is a good thing
  • Workflow is straightforward, didn’t had to look at the manual yet. Was confused a bit at the alt thing, but once I understood the long press for shift menu it’s smooth sailing.
  • Buttons needs some push, if you go lightly they click but don’t register the press. I might mod that later
  • The only thing I don’t like is the F/Q/M knobs feeling, they’re not smooth and seems there’s some friction on the botton. I can live with that though
  • No power button :frowning:

Some features I would love to see in an update after 1 night with the MM2:

  • A ping pong delay option please, that’s the thing I miss the most!
  • Next on the list would be a sample rate reducer and bitcrusher, they’re cheap in CPU and sound great on some patches. And there’s some space left in the Drive screen
  • As other said, even a single button to play a note or arp without having to plug in a keyboard would be awesome.
  • I may have missed something, but I would love to be able to control the panning of a part, especially given that effects are stereo.
  • Some params to tweak for the chorus effect, like speed/depth
  • A formant filter would be fun, though I know it’s very common these days
  • If possible, a system option to reduce the screen backlight

Awesome job @elektrosamplist, I’m really impressed by what you achieved! I wanted a portable replacement for my Nova, SH-32 and Electribe ESX and the MM2 covers a lot of that range.

EDIT: add photo, cause it’s a really a nice looking micro beast

Man its multitimbral as well?!
I need one. Hope they restock ASAP.

Bitimbral but who’s counting?

@Skurdd Restock probably won’t be soon unless something has changed

damn…

People will probably advise against this but it always works for me on a wobbly desktop unit:

The metal cases can get slightly warped or get that way sitting on a warped table or during transport.

I’ve fixed wobbles like this on countless gear:
Digitone Keys
Octatrack
Ambika
Shruthi XT
Etc…

Place your palms on opposite corners of the of the case including one that is ā€œlifting off the tableā€. So, top right and bottom left as an example (always diagonal across the case). Press down on opposite corners at the same time to bend the case ā€œflatā€.

Do it hard, but not like your trying to snap it in half.

That usually solves the issue. If not then you can hang one foot off the edge of the table and try again carefully.

In extreme cases you can loosen a bunch of the case screws, do the flattening technique above, then tighten the screws again.

Damn, starting to regret not buying on this third batch… hope the whole knobs and buttons situation gets better!

for what it’s worth, the knobs seem fine to me. i don’t know that there’s any situation.

Arrived a short while ago (I’m in NYC). Excellent shipping (a cable and some adapters I ordered on the 6th from a place 30 mins away by subway are in transit between two carriers in another state…). Usable INIT patch! I too would like to see @sezare56’s idea of a button keyboard implemented. It would be lovely to sit somewhere nice and explore sound design with just a power bank instead of three cables and a small MIDI keyboard that is still twice the size of the MM.

I got in on this batch and mine is arriving tomorrow. I don’t know much about it but everyone said it’s very good so I figured I would give it a shot. The price point seemed right.

Hopefully it makes some nice sounds.

I loved the sound of the original, but failed to pull the trigger on one; this looks like an upgrade all round. Mine shows up Thursday and I’m excited

I watched @sezare56’s ā€œacid from scratchā€ video (above), and then tried to recreate the sounds. The video doesn’t show the delay and reverb settings but it hardly matters. What a wealth of sound options from four knobs (F, Q, 1, 2) within a hand’s breadth! I spent half an hour just turning those four knobs and periodically changing the arp on my keyboard. Now I can do all the most annoying parts of LCD Soundsystem’s ā€œYeah [Crass Version]ā€!
