Happy new year !
Tried MM2 MPE with Linnstrument today….

Switching the MM2`s presets using BNK, SBNK and PRG on the SRC page of a MIDI track works as expected. But when I save the DT2 project and open it again later, the MM2 's presets originally selected on the SRC page are sometimes not recalled. If I change the PRG value manually, the MM2 reacts immediately and switches to the corresponding preset.

Funnily enough, I didn’t have this problem with the old DT. Now I would like to understand why the program change settings of the SRC page are apparently not sent or not sent correctly after loading the project. Any ideas or hints?

That’s an Elektron problem.
Same events aren’t sent consecutively. Once sent a PC or CC won’t be sent again if the value is the same.

I am surprised you didn’t have that problem with DT1.

I know that Elektron does not like to send the same MIDI data that has already been sent. But if I then load another project and then the original project again, the DT2 should actually have “forgotten” the MIDI data sent.

However, in the meantime I have found a workaround: If I press Play, Stop, Play after loading the project, the program change will be sent.

I’m tempted to call that a bug if it’s not doing that.

A bug on all Elektrons since 25 years ?

Maybe it has a good memory ! :content:
Once again, this behaviour should be an option, because in some cases you’d want to recall the same patch regularly, thinking tweaking / recall at the pattern’s beginning.

What I mean is this. If I load a project that has midi presets that are using PC’s that may or may not have already been set … then I would expect, somewhere after project load and at latest when pressing ‘play’, that the right PCs would be sent.

Seems reasonable to me ?

And yes, you could have an option for it in ‘personalise’ or per-project or something.

Of course it should ! But apparently Elektron doesn’t consider it as a bug. It should be reported as is, or as a very annoying feature.

I have reported this issue to the Elektron support.

By the way, it is sufficient to press Stop once after loading the project. Then the presets will be switched the next time you hit play. If you know that, it’s acceptable.

But @bibenu is of course right: we should expect this to happen automatically after loading a project.

v2.6

new:

  • Combi mode updated with new parameters
  • All combi modes:

Pgm A and B volume
Combi tempo

  • Stack and Split modes only:

Octave Transpose A and B
Pitch Bend, AfterTouch, ModWheel and SustainPedal can be assigned to Pgm A, B or both

good to know:

  • the new combi mode does not use mix and tempo value stored in a Pgm (but its own set of parameters)

so if you have some combi saved in your MM2, applying the update will reset the mix and tempo values to the default values
this also means that Pgms stored as part of a combi can be used independently in other modes with different mix and tempo values without affecting the combi

oh heck yes!!! This thing just keeps getting better and better. Did you notice in the manual its says full NRPN will be available? It’s been a couple updates and no more mention of this.

Good news ! It doesn’t seem available yet on Audiothingy’s website though ?

It’s there if you go Products -> MM2 -> Firmware Update but not if you look in Downloads (the updated manual is in Downloads, though).

It is probably better in the long run not to rely on apps that are SysEx uploaders, but I have to use Chrome to use this Web-based uploader, and I would really love to be able to delete Chrome entirely. (I also need it for screenshots for the M8 tutorial I am writing. Apple seems to view MIDI as some sort of security threat also.)

D’oh ! glanced at the page too quickly, saw the button to upload a Sysex file, and went soul searching… Thanks.

Thanks for asking that question, @dgbrt - the same happened to me today! Oh wait… - seriously, though, this time a retry (using Chrome on Mac, by the way) was successful. Again, no bricking.

You can’t brick MM2 with a failed update, just retry, as you did, bravo

Glad the process is so robust. Thanks…

Hi! Is there in MM2 a catch mode for the knobs?. I can’t use filter smoothly, it jumps. Thanks!
