I use sting 2 pretty regularly as of late and I also bought the Euclidean sequencer to see how I got on with it. Sting 2 is phenomenal, and does some amazing things beyond just acid bass like material if you work it right. The Euclidean sequencer I haven’t spent quite as much time with, but I did have it sequencing my TR-8S during one session recently, and that was really cool. It doesn’t seem quite as good at melodic stuff as it is for rhythmic stuff (dialing in a single pitch for a sequencer lane with a knob feels a little awkward when I could be doing something like entering notes on the Push surface to control some sort of aggregate melodic sequencer lane(s)).
That’s good to know. I must admit my desire to get a Euclidean sequencer has been reduced quite a bit by Iftah’s Sting 2. It’s just unbelievable how much fun that device is on the Push.
Sting 2 and Fors Dyad, really has set the bar for devices that integrate so well on Push. Ableton definitely need to look at them and work out how they need to integrate their generative midi tools on Push going forward. They really are a game changer for me.
Don’t you have problems why using both of them? The pad takeover mode is glitching out hard on Dyad, when using more than 1 device that uses the push in a different way ![]()
I don’t use both at the same time that often, I’ll try them a bit more together. I’m assuming it’s an issue with the take over modes?
Replying to myself. There is a bit of an issue when using both Dyad and Sting 2 in take over mode. My “fix” for that is to use Sting 2 in the device take over mode. When you do it that way it seems to be problem solved.
Can you explain? ![]()
Anyone using STAX polysynth? It got push 3 support some time ago, haven’t had the time to try it out.
Yes it’s pretty good.
So the other day I was so blown away by Rupture, a new kick drum synth from RawtonForge, that I had to buy it. And I wasn’t disappointed - it’s now on my Ableton Live template.
I read comments that it wasn’t compatible with P3SA, so I thought ‘what the heck?’ and installed it.
And guess what.- IT WORKS! Or at least, one page of controls appear on P3SA. Not sure if the rest are accessible without tweaking the M4L patch, or if it’s impossible to do this. But if it is possible, I am up to for the challenge, because even with one page of parameters this is a phenomenal kick drum synth and a true pleasure to have on the P3SA.
Any M4L gurus out there who fancy helping?
It’s a paid device of course, and well worth the money, so of course I wouldn’t share it because the devs really smashed it out of the park with this one, but I would love to figure out how to make this fully compatible with the P3SA (sample aspect notwithstanding).
EDIT: Found this link which could be useful in my quest.
Yup, that was an answer from Isotonik to the P3 compatibility question under the launching vid. ![]()

Indeed… Yet it loads and sounds awesome on P3SA, but only has one page of parameters. Guess this is where the live.banks and externals thing comes into play.
If it’s using jsui you should be able to add live menus/numboxes under the hood and add those to a live.banks. I don’t have it but at a glance it looks like it’s using some maybe. If that’s the case you’d just need to name everything appropriately and set the value ranges. Assuming the ui is fed in to a gen patch you’d just need to match the messages? If it’s already native elements with a fancy paint job it should be even easier.
- live.banks: support button assignments for parameter banks (requires Live 12.3 public beta)
(Not a MAXer but I guess this might be of help in your quest)
Ooooh, this could be a very useful update indeed. I’m so happy to see Ableton actively listening to requests and updating the Push 3. The only other device I’ve seen with such dedicated updates was the Oxi One and that was only one guy doing it all for a long time. Really impressed with Ableton.
I do want to keep this thread on track though and I apologise for derailing slightly!!
Hey anyone using Hocket II -Max for Live Effect on P3SA? I want to use it to play Syntakt as a polysynth (if I understood this device properly).
I haven’t used it but would assume that it’s meant for doing Hocketing not normal polyphonic playing.
can someone confirm that this means that we can add buttons to live.banks that can be toggled via Push‘s display buttons instead of the knobs? e.g. finally a way to have a button for opening/closing the plugin window?
awesome. Now let‘s see if I can use Max 9 with Live 11…
think you need 12.3 beta for it to work
