I actually watched like 75% of this video. I made it to the battery comment and then decided to sell my Octatrack and go surfing for the rest of perpetuity with an OP-1 Field.
This video should be studied by Elektron. They clearly missed out on the opportunity to make the Octatrack the best Dynamic Performance Beach Sampler on the market… Matias knows what’s up. Had they put a battery in it, he would be on the beach all day every day, just slaying beats without a care for getting sand in them sticky buttons.
this has become such a silly staple for people…
99% wont ever take their portable devices outside of their flat, but still everything has to be portable and have a battery…
When I first got an M+ I didn’t use the OT for a while, now they’re more like good friends and often get used together, the 4 outs of the M+ go into the OT, stacking the lock states with the scenes makes for some fun sample mangling jams.
I like how he says something like “it’s very difficult to learn, and I have tons of these hardware samplers around the studio…” when his studio basically looks like an apartment with five instruments thrown into it. and all of them brand new shit that came out within the last few years. it looks like he got bored and decided to get into music five years ago and immediately found a way to monetize it. maybe not a very good one, as I’ve never heard of the guy. but I guess it’s working well enough for him…
It looks like one of them “Our Spanish holiday was ruined by cockroaches and builders” sadface stories off of the local news, but it’s not a Spanish holiday, it’s an Octatrack.
Thumbnails with that little respect for my eyes deserve derision.
I haven’t played the video yet, but I have seen others from him. I keep focusing at his stainless steel bracelet watch. I am always afraid he’s going to scratch his gear.
That was my highly critical and focused review of the video.
I actually only watched the video to scroll through and see what kind of watch it was. not that I like it or anything; just out of curiosity. didn’t see a close-enough shot to figure it out though.
