I agree. I have to be on a lot of calls for work (like zoom or whatever) and if I take a sip of my drink I always mute myself, because when I hear others do it on mic it sounds really disgusting! I’ll still give someone a pass for doing it on a call, but not in a scripted video that they planned on making
That coffee bit was very cringe.
I appreciate that this video taught me how the OT workflow is not that far away from the DT. Nice.
To be fair OP misspelled his name. It’s actually Holmgren which is a common Swedish surname.
But look at the sincerity in his facial expression, the highly analytical finger pointing at the device, the ‘department store makeup section’ lighting, and the splash of green from the plants in the background. Surely this man is qualified to be making such curious comparisons as OT <> Maschine Plus.
I’m always a bit confused by people comparing these two.
They don’t really seem very comparable at all.
They both need power
I bought a OTm1 as my first Elektron. Failed horribly at using it, sold it. MK2 came out and people were wild about it. I bought one. Failed. Sold it. Finally decided to give it an honest go, bought one again, used it about 5 minutes. … … … Maybe I should make videos on how bad it is. That is a lot easier than putting forth an honest effort to learn the device.
To be honest, I think what I really need to do is learn to use it as a mixer and effects unit for my Eurorack, then maybe how to record loops, then etc… NOT try to learn everything at once.
deleted, because whatever
I instantly lose respect for people posting these cringe thumbnail photos (mouth agape, soyface, pointing to the device, etc.) because it’s best for the “algorithm.” They are quite literally consenting to participate in a behavior modification experiment to satisfy the whims of some vector operation informed by what the drooling (mostly toddlers I assume) masses click most often site-wide for a bit of internet clout, a few pennies of ad revenue and maybe some free gear. This is not an honorable way to live.
You can learn how to use it as a mixer and record some simple loops in a day. Don’t let the device, or videos like this, intimidate you. Try asking Bing Chat or GPT4 questions if you get stumped. Both have been trained on this forum and the OT manual.
And yet this post gets much more engagement than videos without the cringe and clickbait. Even though it’s negative engagement. Unfortunately.
I cannot believe he wasn’t satisfied with the button click sound quality.
Oh good, another Youtube pereson that I hadn’t heard of to add to my don’t bother watching list.
He said something about the Maschine’s and OP1’s buttons being ‘lovely and soft’ or something, which to every mech keyboard enthusiast ever = mushy. Much prefer a good discrete mechanical switch to cheap rubber dome + membrane designs.
ouch you guys are a tough crowd
I think the synthfluencer thing is getting tired and a lot of people are over it.
I just don’t think there’s much in the way of art sitting in front of a camera in your nice clean studio reviewing gear that’s been reviewed by 1000 people before in largely the same format as those 1000 people before you.
There are people with an obvious talent for gear reviews, like Nick Batt and Loopop and I liked a lot of what bad gear was doing before he started focusing too much on current gear, but if you’re just some Jonny nobody on YouTube, it’s hard not to feel like you’ve decided you’re smarter than everyone else without much in the way of qualifications.
Authority has to be earned, otherwise who really gives a fuck what you think…
He’s trying sooo hard… Almost painful to watch…
