There’s an FX (I think it’s TBL or something) that lets you assign arbitrary tables.
I should have my M8 with me, but I tried that Tuesday and got no work done
Edit: or I could just look at the manual

Worth a shout out on its own: the M8 manual is very good. It strikes the right balance between a reference and an overview of why things work like they do. All in a very natural voice that’s a pleasure to read.
Lol this might be the most impressive feat of trash80(I assume he wrote the manual)
Like developing, building and distributing a quality instrument- thats pretty cool
BUT!
Also making technical documentation thats actually good?! Thats incredibly impressive!
1692 just arrived. It’s larger than I thought it would be which is even better! I have stiff little fingers but this thing is ergonomically great. That was my only concern. Besides that. Wow. Just…. Wow. So much power in a small device.
That sounds awesome dude. Love it
thank you !! m8 power beats
This is extra wavy! Dope track. Are the drum sounds also M8 only? Mine gets delivered today and I’m so excited
damn that first track is awesome, still gotta check the rest. how’d you do the chords?
When will these be available for pre order again? I’ve been scrolling through this thread and can’t find the info.
drum sounds are all m8 only, either using the FM synth or good old fashioned samples
the chords for “yalk DX” were done using samples and the macrosynth’s “wave paraphonic” engine. using that engine type you can move between a selection of 4 note chord voicings, while also scanning through a wavetable to get different timbres etc. thats one of my favorite ways to get chords done in M8 actually.
i’ll be releasing an LP of nothing but M8 tracks, and i plan to give away the bundles for anyone who downloads them.
trash80 said he’s not going to do another pre-order campaign- keeping up with addresses was a nightmare.
He’s probably going to list them for sale as they become available
Ahh thank you!!
I just tucked into the tables today, it alleviates some of my gripes with the envelopes and is actually quite easy to use. Really fun powerful and happy accident prone. I’m guessing tables is the best way to set up some timestreching madness.
Can’t say it is making me want to ditch the digitakt but use them together instead. Think it is time for me to rewire and rethink my set up a bit.
For timestretching madness I usually resort to an LFO mapped to LOOP ST, with it set to RAMP UP and HOLD, PLAY mode to LOOP FWD and LENGTH to 00~04 … Table is kind of hit or miss but LFO rate set to the number of 16th notes in the loop makes sense. EG: “10” for a 4 beat loop, “20” for a 8 beat loop, “40” for a 16 …
At least one of the founders of Elektron hailed from the 90’s demoscene where they would have used trackers heavily for music. I would venture to say the Elektron way of working is greatly inspired by trackers. It makes sense that the M8 workflow (or likely many tracker workflows) would feel familiar to an Elektron user.
Ready to order this when it’s available. Had 2 preorders but bailed due to medical issues, now have some money again…cmon M8!!!
I’m glad you’re feeling better
I’m getting so hyped up listening to what all of you are doing with the M8, I think I’ll start recording an Arp Odyssey sample pack to have ready for mine. ghostwerk your tracks are so sick dude.
Tim you are a madman, can’t believe this thing was created and produced by just one dude. Wild.
Mine came today! My brain’s a little too fried from work to grok all the manual, but I managed to get a few noises going. Celebrating the little wins and preparing to dig into this more over the weekend!
