This has been the best preorder experience I’ve had in years. Hope you can take a breather soon!

Got mine today, lots of fun sampling and loading over a good deal of my digitakt sample library. Seems it will take some muscle memory especially for some of the menu hopping. Not sure if I see myself using the synth engines much but it is cool they are there. I suppose I might once I get faster on it.

You’d be surprised, I got one from the original run and like you was primarily sample based to begin with but the muscle memory came pretty quick and I found myself really enjoying the synth engines. The addition of a 2nd LFO opened it up further. They’re a nice balance of quick to use but with enough complexity that they don’t get boring - the wavsynth sound absolutely superb!

Yeah wavsynth has quickly become one of my favourite synth engines. So versatile!

Those with an m8, how well can you manipulate samples? I’m guessing standard tracker stuff? Reverse, retrig and pitch up/down?

1808 here.

Love the number.

Shipping soon next week.

Stoked.

Got my email too! Super excited. I flip samples so I’m gonna try to figure out if there’s any way to adjust start and end points of slices, unless @trash80 has plans to incorporate this feature down the road

It’s pretty robust. There’s also slicing, degrading, various loop modes, a single cycle style oscillator playback, and then you get the multi mode filter, two envelopes and two lfos and tables you get with every instrument.

The manual is worth a scan. https://dirtywave.com/assets/manuals/m8/m8_operation_manual.pdf P45 of the pdf describes the sampler.

Not that a lot of that isn’t standard tracker as you say but there’s a lot of room to completely transform a sample in a single step.

Man, while I’ve been waiting for this thing I’ve been looking at:

  • Digitakt
  • Octatrack
  • monomachine
  • Analog Four

Granted the MnM i wouldn’t have bought( because come on) and the Analog Four i may still buy

But the first two…I’ve been jumping the gun.

Should be shipping out on or around Tuesday. I can’t wait

Alright, gonna start refreshing the purchase page as of Tuesday

Depending on what you’re trying to do with the sample, you can probably get around some of it by preparing samples using something like Octachainer so that it divides evenly into 256 or adjusting the start and end time of the sample in the sample editor on the m8.

It’s there, 2 days earlier than expected! :star_struck:

This Monday will be hard for work, with this and Metroid dread calling for some attention…

I just got mine as well (late 1600s)! I’ve played around with the headless M8 before and enjoyed it, but it’s really something else holding the actual device in your hands. Reminds me of my good ol’ Blackberry Passport. Great in hand feel. Oh and I didn’t know it had rubber feet at the back but that’s a genius idea. It sits very nicely on the tiny shelf of my Analog Keys.

I miss my old BlackBerry Passport so much. The keyboard was fantastic

Its getting to that point where I’m hearing the new email notification and I get excited followed by disappointment.

email sound

!!! Is this a shipping notification?! !!!

Oh… its just my first true love emailing to tell me that she’s never stopped loving me and wants to get together if I’m ever free.

Its gonna be a rough couple of days

I got the Shipping Soon email too, which prompted me to start reading the manual.

fwiw, the Sampler section starts on p.40 in my copy of the manual. Looks more than capable of playing back any Moog Matriarch, Lyra-8, etc. noises that I want to use in the open-mic set I’ve started thinking of throwing together.

He’s really serious about getting everything shipped by Tuesday isn’t he?

I hope he doesn’t kill himself, and takes a well-deserved vacation
