yea i was looking at those. very neat but a bit expensive to Ireland tho. €18 + €18 shipping. think I might shrinkwrap + velcro.
Is this a bug/unintended?
When having NOTE PREVIEW OFF
the note doesn’t show visual feedback anymore (on the mini keyboard)
I love the visual feedback/preview, especially now with big font, but most of the time I don’t like to listen to the note preview. Hopefully this can be changed ? @trash80
EDIT: Neither does note preview (EDIT+PLAY) work, when NOTE PREVIEW is OFF - it would be super useful to have it implemented. Thanks so much!
Been making a record with a violinist. Every sound is solo violin. Chopped, manipulated and sequenced in M8. Some mix stuff applied in Logic after the final arrangement is done. What an amazing tool the M8 is
Good point. Will be fixed on next update. Oversight.
Amazing work @Snipecatcher :fire:
:fire:
I keep it in a 18650 battery case
Thanks, @glooms!
I’m trying to decide between a Dirtywave M8 and an iPad + small interface for a portable rig with another synth. I used trackers when I was a teenager so am not intimated by the concept. My pros and cons so far are:
Dirtywave M8:
- Pro: Tables, generative stuff, cool looking groove and tuning possibilities.
- Pro: Nice rough-and-ready synth tones.
- Cons: ?
Ipad with logic:
- Pro: It’s the logic that I know and love.
- Con: It’s the logic that I know and love
How does Dirtywave hold up for recording long jams from something like a Microfreak? I understand that you can’t play samples and record at the same time… But if I were to make a generative FM beat on the M8 and noodle on the Microfreak for 8 minutes how would the audio recorded from the Microfreak hold up?
i think it would hold up great, i guess it depends how you like to interact with long clips of audio but in my experience the sample editor is fast and easy to use, easy to add slice points if wanted. i dont live record very often because i normally use samples and cant be bothered to set up an FM drum track but when i have done that it worked flawlessly. easy to add different fx along the way as well, once again depending on how you decide to organize your project. its just so versatile and truly capable that you can normally make it work for you
Anybody try to add audio inand midi out to their teensy?
I think you could solder a MIDI socket to the Teensy for some early versions of the firmware, a feature which was later removed.
I got as far as doing all the soldering, and subsequent troubleshooting for a couple of hours, before realising my mistake.
I don’t think it was fully disabled, just the pins changed. There was some chat about it in the discord recently - which led to some shit-flinging about where the line is re handheld headless mods
The Kingston Canvas Go Plus 64gb, 128gb, 256gb, and 512gb all seem to test very well. This will be my current recommendation on forward, they are cheap all things considered. Note the latest M8 firmware 3.1.2 fixes some minor issues with the 128gb+ models.
A big thing for me is the interface. When you sue a touchscreen you can’t see what’s under your fingers so it’s quite hard to be precise. With keys you can absolutely fly around it once you know it well.
If I went iPad there are personally more interesting apps than logic though- I’d look at drambo, audulus, synthscaper etc. if you already have an iPad, I’d try that ans see what you think.
Thank you for taking the time to test and update. Gonna see if I can get a 512 ordered before the pre-orders get shipped
Has anyone using headless managed to get a MIDI controller to work? I can control my NTS-1, but I can’t seem to be able to get my NTS-1 to control the M8.
Sold out.
Fortunately I ordered on wednesday.
Just out of curiosity, anybody knows how many units there was in this batch?
Same here… I must have had a “feeling”…
