M8 Tracker

Same issue here. How did you install m8c version 1.5.2? Did you have to compile it yourself?
Trying to get 1.5.2 onto the Anbernic RG351V.

Does the actual M8 have a pretty good volume headphone out?

I’m finding I get a weak output at the max volume my anbernic can manage, and it’s only really feasible to enjoy it if I use a headphone amp in the chain, making it a bit less portable.

I’ve had zero issue with my headphone on the actual dirtywave hardware. Used some decent overear, good earbuds (moondrop), and cheap earbuds, no extra headphone amp in-between

What headphones/ohm impedance? What is your ā€œoutput volumeā€ set to?

Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ī© version work fine for me with M8, they go louder than I would ever want to listen for any length of time. Also have DT 240s at 34Ī© and there’s not much difference. If you’re trying to drive some 600Ī© Sennheisers or something then it may be a different story.

Aiaiai TMA-2

I tried my old HD25’s and they got a touch louder. I do think it’s the Anbernic that just has slightly lower output than I’m used to. I can get it useable by smashing the mixer.

I will see in good time anyway as I’m on the pre-order  it was just a wonder

Yes, you need to compile it.

Man, my headphones can get really loud, as can my earbuds.

How does one compile it, dare I ask? (coming from a relative lay person perspective)

I am happy with 3.0.4 so might just leave it for the time being unless it is a really simple exercise. Was just curious about the bigger font.

Big font isn’t available on headless!

Oh really? Ah well, I’m in even less of a rush then!

  1. You need to enable wifi and remote services on the device
  2. Login using ssh and ark:ark credentials
  3. Run the setup script from your current m8 installation (roms/ports/M8), it will install all required headers
  4. If you want to keep your current m8c, then create another folder there and clone git repository of m8c in it
  5. Do git checkout v1.5.2
  6. Run make
  7. If in N4 you cloned it in a separate folder, then duplicate the m8 start scripts and adjust them as needed. Otherwise you’re done.

Is it possible to select a section and do an instant render? Or do I have to go into the render screen?

Yes, it was added in 2.7 firmware.
You can check the detailed demo in meetup recording.

Yep, it’s called quick render and it’s the fastest way to resample in the Far West : in the song screen, double tap the edit key to render your selection and to auto assign it to a new instrument.

A twinkly crunchy thing I made a few days ago. I feel like it’s missing something, but I can’t figure out what

I forget about this feature! I use the render section pretty regularly, but this speeds up the process considerably. It also makes it more intentional since you can render whatever specific area you’re highlighting/looping/listening to in the moment.

Yes, there’s an instant render from the song screen. It’s the quickest/easiest resampling I’ve used on a device.

I didn’t see this comment. I just said a similar thing.

My fiance was watching me on the headless earlier… Took my headphones off and she said ā€˜ā€˜whatever that is you doing… I’d absolutely hate to make music like that’’
