I really appreciate your enthusiasm and work ethic. You are producing quality stuff at a prodigious rate. Let me know when you have an official release planned and we will work something out for mastering. In the meantime, keep up the great work!:+1:

Rainy days here in France… Weird mood, good time to come up with a track for operator-1.com Battle #48 “That’s strange!”

PO-16 and PO-14 were recorded in OP-1 : first time I solely played them freely, without loops… I discovered amazing sounds !!
I also sampled a bit of radio directly from the OP-1, came across a cool drum solo, such luck

PO-16 AND PO-16?!

Post listen edit: Sounds good!

Glad you like

The very first sound made me think about a Podcast by Rrose, I just let things go from here…

My wife hates it like I’ve never done something this ugly already !
But I like it anyway, especially considering the poor mixing conditions and the fact that it was done on OP-1 rather quickly.
I’d like to push this idea further, later.
I didn’t think these little POs could still surprise me

Yesterday evening I had the extreme pleasure to play with new friends, 4 of them I had never met.
We were 7 musicians + 1 visual artist playing in “Les Agités du Bocal” art gallery in Rennes.

The idea was to let some space to each one, in an ambiant sound texture…
There were 4 players with Elektron machines, 2 OT and 2 A4.

I used the A4 mainly to control and filter my 0-Coast. I had also brought the tiny Pocket Operator PO16 “Factory”.
The Analog Heat was the key piece of gear, with its many possibilities to sculpt the sound and target with precision the frequency band left by others.
I had an Eventide Space behind the AH.

Hello Dalai,
why are they so much great together ?

They both can go in crunchy/lofi territory…
You can use MD to control 4 OP1 CC.
And I don’t know, I had the feeling they sounded good together.

But I had just received my MD at that time…
Now I now it goes well with anything

Hehe, “40rds” is my favorite as well
But I love “Ryan Bells” a lot as well, and H2G2-based “The Answer #44”…
And “Des Fleurs”, but I don’t think I’ve posted it here.

EDIT : here it is

I’ve always wondered about your username. I can’t think of another Dalai except the Dalai Lama.

That’s the one. DL is the root for LD…
Either lying as the wise Buddha, or as a Chinese official stating the holy man is not telling the truth. Down is the new up… Go figure

I could go for days, but basically this nickname was a blend of my favorite artists in 2010.
Flying Lotus + Gonjasufi → Flying Sufi → Lying Dalai

dalai lama

I am not a religious person, I’ve just always enjoyed Dalai Lama speeches.

I got this infectious groove, I record a quick jam, should definitely work on this further (make it shorter for instance) but can’t find the time…

Still, it gets stuck in my head. I really like it.

Drove to Nantes to sell my Microgranny // met someone great.
Brought some toys with me to properly test the device in a jam session
