The plug-in UIs are the way they are because they reflow. As your resize logic or resize the plug-in window the controls will move, change from knobs to sliders, and move to new lines to keep them always usable. If you try an AUv3 that just scales you’ll see the problem. The auv3s can become impossibly tiny or require a ton of scrolling with elements cut off. Logics built in instruments and effects avoid this with the dynamic plug-in reflowing.
I’m being trolled. The App Store tells me it runs on my iPad. But to download it I need os16.4 which doesn’t run in my IPad. So I have a Schrödinger Logic Pro.
Which iPad do you have?
I don’t buy this for a second. We’ve had over 5 years of AUv3 developers making many more complicated plugins that are usable in all iPad orientations and in some cases even scale down to phone sizes without issue. It’s doable, it just takes more effort than "wrap a long list of parameters”. The plugins are not the way they are because they reflow. They are the way they are because Apple didn’t have the time (or inclination? Hope not!) to do something better than reflowing.
sorry, didn’t get the app so can’t tell. I’m fine with LP on Mac and Logic Remote (iphone/ipad) tbh so I’m just in a “color me intrigued” state for now.
No, but also yes? ![]()
It’s not a selectable instrument and has no UI. But if you bring across a Logic Desktop project with an Ultrabeat track, it plays back perfectly in Logic iPad, so the engine is in there. If you try to edit the plugin, this is what you see:
Even if this were true (I can’t say I’d have a clue about this), it doesn’t explain the sloppy and unintuitive layout of the controls, which is the biggest problem.
Hopefully they just ran out of time for some user interface designs and they will be sorted in due course. Seems everyone is trying to steal each others thunder this week. NI is next lol
Air2, definitely unsupported but the trolling from Apple was unnecessary …
He might be right, but there are clever ways to tackle this.
Could it also be Apple didn’t want to spend too much time on old plugins as they perhaps are planning on introducing something new.
Well, that’s your opin I guess. I LIKE how they look
Don’t need to be fancy, just need to werk.

Perhaps to be unlocked at some future date?
Wow, how does Apple get the iPad to just be suspended in space like that?
If iPads could be suspended in space, without messy stands and holders and “hold it with my left hand or on my lap or wobbling on a tabletop,” etc., like in the marketing materials, they’d be so much more ergonomic.
For sure. This is already true–Alchemy Sample and Beat Breaker are examples. It is nice to hope they have some modern takes on some of their older synth plugins. I do seem to remember reading something about one of the head guys at Universal Audio recently joining Apple’s Logic design team, so that’s a good sign for things to come, at least for FX stuff.
Which is funny because UA is all about the placebo effect with their GUI’s while Apple has doing the exact opposite.
Is all this as simple as plugging the op1f in with the usb and it just works simply and right away with logic?
For this one, I’d expect yearly updates rather than many little updates. I guess we should also expect a phasing out of the desktop Logic and that, as of a certain MacOS version, this legacy version won’t run anymore. That’s what happened to the Aperture photo app.
My thoughts exactly!!!
Its good to see quite a few iPAD devs releasing new versions that have the ‘tile’ GUI in Logic- Nice!
