Korg Wavestate

Really nicely done !

You have pre programmed the lanes and playing them ?

If they release a desktop version with user samples, they’ll get my money.

This cheap plasticky 37 keys keybed is infuriating…

Honestly, user samples are great. But you could still spend a decade exploring the onboard samples without getting bored.

If that still qualifies it as a ā€œromplerā€, then the stigma attached to using such a machine should change.

I’ll get a Wavestate in the new year but I’m not really bothered about user samples.

Thank you!

As I did with the original Wavestation. It was my first synth.

The stigma around romplers really should change… a lot of them are very deep. The only real issue is most old romplers had an absolutely terrible UI. Which is a pretty big advantage to the wavestate.

All I’m doing is pressing one key, or rather having the computer send it one 4 bar long note. Then muting parts, when you unmute them again they come back in on the bar!

Yes all lanes in all layers are programmed!

Has the Wavestate price gone from 777€ to 666€ at Thomanns?

Thank you! Wavestate is no joke!

From Gearslutz, some important info regarding MacOS11 Big Sur.

ā€œApple will release their next major OS version, macOS 11 ā€œBig Sur.ā€ macOS 11 has some big changes under the hood, and I’ve already received mail from other audio developers cautioning me not to update yet. Similarly, Wavestate users on the Mac SHOULD NOT UPDATE to Big Sur until we release a matching update to the Wavestate software. We are currently testing that update, and hope to release it very soon.
Here’s the important part:
The fix requires an update to the Wavestate itself.
If your Mac is already running Big Sur, you won’t be able to install that update.
So, if you don’t have another machine running Windows or an older version of MacOS, you’ll be stuck - and we don’t want that to happen!
Thanks for your patience. We’ll let you know as soon as the update is availableā€

Oh the headaches of using a software synth !?!? WAIT this is a hardware synth.

I understand the difficulties for companies supporting their machine, but this sort of gotcha shouldn’t happen. At least there is a work around, i guess most everybody could beg, borrow or steal another computer to do the fix.

Yeah, that makes sense. The hardware will still run fine, but if you connect it to a computer running a newer OS you’ll have issues… It’s not like the hardware will suddenly stop working.

Rather have a Wavestate than the new Opsix.

Really? The menu system on the wavestate looks a little bonkers.

Opsix looks like a great FM synth, but agreed. Wavestate checks off a lot of boxes for me, even in an extremely competitive synth market.

Yeah, menu hell. I don’t really think it matters. You don’t buy something like the Wavestate to ā€œavoid menu-divingā€. You get it because you love that sound, and you are willing to dive for it.

But once you’ve chosen your sounds and set your lanes, it has plenty of playable control.
