Korg Wavestate

It’s also not the most intuitive of UI’s so there is a good chance it’s just a classic bit of finger trouble/driver error if he’s new to it all. I’ve been flumbmesked myself a more than a few times and I had an OG way back when!

I do suspect it’s just teething troubles.

But thanks for the info.

Didn’t you have your eye on one?
Maybe you should tell him after some considerable research, it might be buggered and you’d need it for a good few weeks to deep dive troubleshoot for him? Or is that just mean?

Yes I did, but I’m trying to stick with what I have.

I’m sure I’ll get one eventually though. My 1st ever synth was a Wavestation, so the nostalgia factor is very strong.

Coincidentally he did ask me to troubleshoot it, but I’ve just started 14 days of Quarantine.

Bah!!! Sorry to hear that.
Good holiday though, I hope?

Thanks.

Well I’ve just come back from a glorious 2 week holiday to start the quarantine. I’m not working at present, so it’s not too bad of a situation. My little boy’s bored already though.

It’s particularly hard on the little people, innit.
Treat you all to a Wavestate and blow your collective minds! Won”t your Covid quarantine payments almost pay for it? :smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp:
My litt”lun loves it! Keeps saying “Dadda, this sounds like a video game i’m not allowed to play yet!”
Sorry for my potential enabling.

I just wish he wasn’t going to miss 7 days of School. It was too expensive to change flights and we didn’t want to cut short his holiday to still have to quarantine anyway. He had the time if his little life.

My wife lost her job last month, so I definitely can’t get one yet.

The precious will be mine one day.

I”ll shut the f#@k up!
Sometimes good times are more important. You made the right decision. He’ll take away more from that week than a week’s early new Covid school.
The best of luck to you all my man.
Stay safe.

Sorry @k Typo!
Carry on…

I’m very tempted by this neat little synth and have been pouring over the manual but I can’t find an answer to something.
Is there a way to reverse a sample/wave? Like play a reverse piano note?
Can any owners oblige?

Also, reservations about build quality/longevity?

Recently acquired a Wavestate & loving it so far, very interesting synth! If it ever gets sample import, it’ll be a game changer imho. Stock samples are good though.

Here it is being sequenced by Fugue Machine on the iPad.

Spoiler, it’s not ambient.

That’s awesome.

Thank you! It’s a pretty intense machine!

Surprised the hypothesized module hasn’t shown up yet.

Thanks to you I’m gassing for one of these. I’ve been absolutely loving what you’re doing with the Wavestate. The percussion lines can get real break core / idm sounding. With no news on adding a user samples feature, do you have any fear of it starting to sound samey over time? Also, how approachable is the operation, pretty straight forward? Thanks

Yeah fear of it just being a huge rompler with some bells and whistles does concern me. I’d like a lot more synthetic sounds on there, but that’s just me. In this video Nick Kwas from KORG mentions in passing that there is a lot of free storage space, and that could be used to import new/user samples “in the future.” That being said I think there are thousands of samples on here.

The Wavestate is daunting at first for sure, lots of menu diving and button pushing. It isn’t like the other synths I have(Elektron boxes, analog monos, DX7 etc), and required me to learn it. That being said it isn’t that hard to learn, imho.

There are 7 lanes for sequencing, and there are presets for each lane. You can also make your own presets for the lanes. So it’s very expandable in that regard.

Maybe hold out to buy until they add sample import? Just a thought.

Here’s a music video thing I made today. Music is just one Wavestate. All one take.
