Korg Multi/Poly

Oh sweet. Thanks.

I did not dive much into details, but there is an Amp section for the each layer where you can select several flavors and set the drive, also there must be distortion or overdrive mod effects.
To my memory, Virus has dedicated drive/saturation section between or before the filters, and pretty radical one, not just specific synth’s amp emulation, pretty huge difference

Yeah, I’ve been diving in to them pretty hard on both the hardware and the editor. It’s less about the unit not doing something and more about me not understanding the complexity and/or language. Operator error shit. I think this synth will be one that I have ā€œaha!ā€ moments for years to come.

Does anyone know where to get covers for the Korg modules?

I can only find Decksavers for the keyboard versions of the WS, MW, and M/P. I have the module version of the WS and am waiting for the module version of the M/P and would like to get covers for both (two dogs, three adults equals plenty of dust).

I will be using my Push 3 and Osmose to play the synth’s MPE capabilities. I will be using the synth’s own sequencer and Hapax for external sequencing.

Wavefolder Berkeley from Korg M/P is the same wavefolder from Opsix ?

Here’s a longer (no talking) demo with a focus on Ambient, Electronica, and Dub/Melodic Techno. Maybe you find it useful.

Can you sequence each layer independently?

From my Maschine+, yes. Never tried with the internal sequencer.

Awesome! Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. I’d be sequencing via MIDI from an Octatrack.

That’s partially why I bought it. I love multitimbral synths.

I’m replacing an Analog Four, the idea of having 4 layers I can either combine or sequence on their own is pretty tempting. I was thinking of going for an analog poly, but this thing seems SO flexible. How have folks found programming sounds?

There’s a learning curve for sure. I used the app for the computer first to get my bearings, but I’m not as well versed as some probably. I have owned the ModWave so it wasn’t as foreign as if I had started with the m/p.

edit: I do wish I had been patient for the module since it has polyAT.

Definitely would future proof things a bit, but every polyAT controller I’ve seen is way out of my price range anyways. Wish I’d heard better things about the Korg Keystage controller, because Kraft Music does have a decent bundle price for the M/P and Keystage.

For sure. I’d probably end up using my APC64 a lot with it. Or the Hydrasynth as a controller. My figures are crossed that some more PolyAT controllers will come out soon.

I have the KB version absolutely love it… only issue is midi cc. Seems you can only assign cc to the 4 control knobs but… any amount of parameters can be assigned to 1 knob. It’s a massive sounding synth I might even grab the desktop version at some point :ok_hand:
Also great in the Multi/Poly is the 4 layers per performance. Each layer within a performance on separate midi channels straight into Digitakt II… save your own set lists with 64 performances seems this would work ideal for live sets.

I tested a module in a store and personally found it a bit tedious, it’s quite complex, even if you understand the architecture and the flow from the plugin (but maybe I was tired then, and my experience is limited anyway). But for a A4 user - it’s a comparable experience, almost close number of controls.

Actually - you can assign MIDI CC via Mod-Matrix to synth parameters.
If you need that regularly save it as a template.

I ended up finding a pretty stupid deal on a Prologue 16 at a local shop. Couldn’t pass it up despite being very intrigued by the m/p’s sound and features.
