Thats a bold claim
Sounds nice though and looks quite hands on.

I just bought the microkorg 2….(shakes fist in the air)

MSRP $900. Up to 60 voice polyphony. No aftertouch keybed. I’m fascinated by the design decisions at Korg. Sometimes they really get something right. Other times, I’m not sure

The idea behind the oscillator structure, with vintage wavetables, wavefolding, VA everything, it’s not bad at all. I just don’t know who is spending $900 on this in particular.

I’m sure I’ll love to hear the demos though.

Nice VA from Korg, interesting choice to do this instead of an analog reissue like the others. I wonder if they’re slowing that down a little with how many are on the market

Is this a VA version of the ModWave, WaveState, and Opsix? Are they going to release a Module version? Does it have the mid keys like that line?

With a name like multi/poly it seems like it would be multitimbral but I don’t see them stating it directly. It does do layers and splits.

I’ve been waiting for korg to release a mono/poly as it’s my fav synth but this almost seems too complex and busy for my usage. Very modern sounding from what I’ve heard so far. Looking forward to checking it out in person.

Lovely soft tones in the intro, horrible pitched harsh voice for the voice over.

Why don’t they think these things through?

Nice demos from someone involved in the voicing team

It seems to me that Korg here charges for the level of control you have over the various parameters of this synth. 4 oscillators times 4 layers is 16 wavetable synths at a keypress, and with the modulator modifiers, things could get really wild.

Shame about the 1D keyboard, I’d love this with a linnstrument type of playing surface preinstalled… On this point, I agree, not sure why make such a powerfull, expressive engine, and bottleneck it with the interface?

/rant: not sure why companies don’t reach out to Roger Linn and integrate like 4 rows of linnstrument instead of the keys?

Probably I won’t be getting it, but actually a lot of nice and thought-out features here. There is some love from Korg, not just another remake of MicroKorg/Radias engine.

(Also thinking about an alternative to Cobalt8)

Yeah I’m not really sure who they are targeting with this and many of their recent synths. Do people really want modern day reissues with “virtual analog”

I just bought a old Access Virus TI Polar for about the same price, and feel like I might rather have this…? Full size keys, versatile sound engine, layers, effects. Plus sequencer.

“Semi Weighted keys” Ok Korg im listening!!

I’m a huge fan of Mono/Poly and in my opinion the “rotate” mode as they call it is really no fun without the dedicated hardware control for waveform, octave and tune.

So they’ve put KingKorg v2 out to quietly die yet again?

Far more interesting to me than the KingKorg. My main gripe with the Modwave was ultimately the UI which may be a problem for this thing, too, but it depends what the patch creation is like.

For all the shade people threw at the GAIA 2, it really hit the usability (and keybed feel) out of the park by comparison.

Speaking of the keybed, I see people saying its the same as the previous ones in this range and some hinting it’s not. I’m curious. Adding weights might be enough to make it feel right - setting aside how Korg feels about aftertouch.
