iPad Music Apps?

Yeah, no it’s usually $29.99

Btw I just finally upgraded to Animoog Z myself yesterday and f#ck me my presets are damn good! I forgot how epic they are! Wow! Probably worth the $15 you’re saving! But they are free…

Some quick thoughts on Animoog Z:

  1. The filter no longer sounds steppy which is absolutely great.

  2. The drive sounds much richer like an overdrive and less like a distortion or fuzz.

  3. Love the new echo and arp and all the extra modulation.

  4. Love how I can process external audio through the fx block.

  5. Love the new timbre designer and easy access to timbre files which used to be a whole annoying process to hack.

Animoog was once my favorite iOS synth but I sort of abandoned it. However I think it’s back to the top of the list, the whole design of the instrument really fits with me, great job Moog, I don’t know why I waited so long!

Animoog Z is a really great wind synth for those with EWIs. Very easy to map breath and bite control CCs and get really expressive.

Soundscaper is one of my most favored apps. I wish he’d update it to AUv3.

Hey! I’m looking to set up a solid system on my iPad, not a full DAW, but more of a groovebox with several apps for creating interesting loops to export, right now i’m stuck on the FX part. I’m a huge fan of Tantra 2, which I use with Ableton. I use it on drum loops, bass, basically everything. It’s a multi-effect with a sequencer, and it’s very straightforward. I mainly use the randomize function until I get something interesting. So, I’m looking for something similar for my iPad. AUV3 apps would be the best since I also have an M1 MacBook. I don’t need something overly complex. Any recommendations?

This is exactly how I use Koala Sampler. With the “Samurai” Add-on it behaves as a groove box, as it has piano roll.

Hey, I do use Koala with the Samurai add-on, and it’s pretty good. However, I’m currently searching for a sequencer multi-effect plugin with a randomization option to use alongside apps like Koala. Something along the lines of “Effectrix,” but with less emphasis on glitch effects. Tantra 2 is very rhythm-oriented and initially sounds quite trance-like.

Take a look at Drambo. It’s deep, but also very accessible. I use it for its sequencer, which is like the Elektron sequencer, only better. And it hosts AUv3 stuff. Available on iPad, iPhone, and Mac.

Drambo if you want a Sequencers Sequencer DAW environment.
Logic Pro if you want a DAW Sequencer.

Then custom build your Au3’s with whatever you want. (Worth having a good read of this thread btw, don’t be afraid to go back 12-18 months.)

People who like their groovebox apps - should check out BAM by Imaginando.

Its available for pre-order and there is a desktop version too, I think it’s out November?

I’m testing the beta at the moment and it has a great UI and its quick to get up and running with it, it has similarities with Drambo, but it’s not modular and doesn’t go as deep, so I find it much quicker to get a track going with it and I like how it’s just 16 tracks to work with just like a groovebox. It’ll be interesting see how the app develops.

How does it compare to my gold standard brain to music workflow, Groove Rider GR16?

I’d like to know more. So …

  • parameter locks ?
  • conditional locks (3:5, PRE, FILL…) ?
  • probability ?
  • sample/preset locks ?
  • scale ?
  • velocity ?
  • swing ?

Drambo will never let you down. IMHO it’s the best sequencer and groovebox on any platform.

Yes to all, although no p-locks for swing (just a regular swing slider in the metronome panel).

It also does OP-Z style step components. And you can p-lock any parameter of any Audio Unit plugin. It’s totally nuts.

Also, punch-in FX.

Strong agree, with the caveat that you have to be ok with touching glass.

Well we are in an iPad thread so no caveat needed

But you did say, “any platform”
