Simply with a lighting to usb adapter ? I’d really like to know if it’s possible to do it from the headphones out of something like a microfreak
Yep, just 0-coast directly to the Digitakt inputs, and from the Digitakt through USB to camera lightning USB adapter to iPad. I recorded in the AudioShare app.
As for recording through the jack input, I haven’t tried so I can’t help much. But my guess is that there would have to be a trrs plug for the iPad input. But I have no idea what would have to be on the other end of the cable to get the sound from the Microfreak.
I’ve done this with a Rode SC4 cable, but it’s only mono. Works, though.
Been scanning through this thread, and I’m wondering about using an iPad instead of my laptop+live 11.
All I use laptop+live for is recording audio from my Heat’s usb audio interface. But looking at some of the synths and drum computers available for iPad, it seems like it sit within a compact set up nicely, both as a sound engine, and recording device.
I know nothing about iPads though. Can you plug in class compliat audio devices and record? Can you send midi transport messages from Digitone to iPad apps?
Yes. It’s not perfect but it works good enough (you don’t have a setting to switch audio interfaces for example)
Well shoot, this might make my life so much simpler.
Now I have to decide if it is to be Air or Mini.
How about two Airs (Macbook + iPad)?

this might help
It’d be worth it go get a cheapo Behringer interface (some of the UCA ones are like $30). That way you can at least get stereo IO. I have a iPad Air 4 and thought I’d miss the headphone jack, but with the little $10 dongle, it doesn’t really make a difference.
Hey! If you have any question about BEATSURFING 2, I’m one of the dev working on it.
Hey - Beatsurfing is AMAZING! I don’t totally understand it all yet, but I will. It’s brilliant and what I always wanted from Playground and SO much more.
Cool! And there’s plenty more to come
Awesome! Is there a comprehensive learning guide? Nic (Edison) has been doing some awesome things that I didn’t know BS2 could do - have I overlooked a manual?
Yes, I saw his videos, awesome indeed.
There are tutorial videos accessible from the different instruments in the browser on the right. You can check them here as well : BEATSURFING instruments catalog
Ho and there’s a Get Started video on the website home page as well : https://www.beatsurfing.com/
I saw the “get started” video but hadn’t seen the Catalog tutorials - that’s exactly what I needed. Thanks!
First I’d like to say Thank You, I’ve been begging and waiting for this since Beatsurfing v1 came out, I will dive in this weekend… and secondly will you guys be implementing a sample slicer from the looks being able to sample into the app, slice samples and get to surfing would complete the experience imo…?
Love that you made this, thank you again.
