and that might be why Elektron doesn’t change its approach, even while people bitch and moan: because even with the lack of communication and frustration on the part of some fans (and distributors), the first batch of DTs sold out very quickly and Elektron has people salivating and scouring the internet for the tiniest of clues and crumbs of new information regarding the machine.
would Elektron sell more DTs if it took the “demo near final product with specified release date” approach (see, e.g. Novation and the Peak)? Who knows. But I definitely want this thing to be a success so Elektron can continue releasing rad machines!
I mean what’s going to happen? If they have a compressor or whatnot planned for the master, and it’s basically done, they’re not going to be changing their minds about it at this point. The knowledge of what it will be is only positive and necessary at this point.
I’d normally agree but seeing as they’re accepting people’s money I’d say that all ‘final’ info that there is should be made available as and when possible? Seems like the release OS is done so why not let people know the scoop on Master and the new Chains mode? Unless those are coming in later updates…
they already started taking peoples money. if i sold something to a friend and then kept telling him to wait another week, he’d think i am a total jerk, and rightfully so.
any half decent company should use a bank loan to fund development, not their customers wallets. and if they do they at least owe their customers the most complete and accurate information possible. i understand the frustration. of course they are not legally obliged to anything, but it is a question of decency when you have someone else’s money in your pocket.
If someone who knew nothing about my job, oversimplified company workings, went around complaining and stirring I wouldn’t be particularly inclined to give any information because it would be ripped apart and evaluated poorly, thus perpetuating the problem.

Between the moment it is ordered and it is build is usually max 1 week
