i use in the final backend ipados aum fabfilter volcano saturn and have with it the whole warming distorting world of anything at lowest price and nice handling faders midi cc via the octatrack .
what do you think the chances are of Elektron adding more fx to this? I guess hoping for some different delays is dreaming.
As in algorithms? Nothing in the current lineup to indicate this is likely. Octatrack remains the only outlier there.
I donāt know if AH+FX is still on the āoldā platform (hate saying this phrase, and I think this is heavily being misunderstood also in the context of speculation) - someone would have to open up their AH+FX and take a pic of the PCB. Digitakt II and Digitone II have a new SHARC DSP onboard that supposedly serves with more future expansion in mind. Realistically no one but Elektron knows the answer to that.
It shouldnāt be dreaming imo, it is would be a great addition. I think itās a shame as the current fx are very limited, even if the mod options are cool.
What is your source for this info?
Unless Iāve missed something, neither this video nor the comments establish explicitly what you state, ie AHFX+ has the same hardware than AH.
I donāt mean to say you were wrong, I just donāt see an element that can be a proof for your claim. The date could be a clue, but not a proof.
The bass focus machine was very useful when I owned this for a while. Is this something unique to AHFX? If not can it be bought as a standalone module elsewhere?
Not sure i want to drop Ā£1k now to get it backā¦
Maybe you should start a new discussion in Other Gear about this.
Iād be interested in such discussion.
So this could have been an update of the mk2 ? Seriously ?!
So itās been over 1.5 years since the last update and has never seen any really meaningful additions with just 2 point updates total. Is it pretty much the end of the line here?
A strange release, to be sure. I thought it might at least get some of the Tonverk FX.
Soon we get MK4, itās 3 years old since launchā¦
In september we get the 10 years special edition.
with limiter, real analog compressor and more useful goodies it still lacks to date.
When I bought it I thought the meaningful additions were the reverb, delay, chorus, bitcrusher, tape wow, and compressor on top of the already solid AH offerings. I still feel that way. Iām not sure whatās changed?
I am strictly speaking of the Analog Heat +FX which is what this thread was for, not any other prior Analog Heat. I do not own them and have no idea what updates theyāve had.
The MK1 stopped receiving major feature updates. It launched in 2016, and the MK2 followed in 2018. Then came the FX+ in 2023.
I donāt expect many more updates for the FX+, especially since there havenāt been any significant feature updates since 2024.
So an MK4 is probably not too far away. We can only hope they finally turn the Heat into a more mature and fully developed product with version 4.
Iād love to see dual effect chains for separate inputs, giving users much more flexibility in routing and processing.
the +FX is what it is ā a substantially better Heat MK2 (for certain people/applications).
i really like mine, but it is kind of a strange release. Every time I actively use it reminds me that the new functionality was shoehorned into the MKIIs layout / io at a cost.
but i mean with this many 2nd hand +FXs selling for absolutely ridiculous prices⦠hard to complain when the device does exactly what it says on the tin.
(and if a new gen Heat comes, iām hoping for a full ui overhaul, more performance-oriented features & hopefully more inputs.)
I think it would be cool if there was a dual mono mode (I know that there arenāt two independent fx circuits, but even just configurable summing to mono on the way in would be cool).
It would also be cool if in USB mode you could use it āinside outā as an insert point. So, flip to OB mode or whatever, then patch in an additional effect via the analog outs, then return that into the regular FX chain, back in via USB.
I would also like a more surgical utility section, like DC / rumble removal and simple stereo widening / narrowing.
Iād also like to be able to pan / balance the reverb return (I have this same request for all Elektron boxes, heh. Pretty sure it applies to the +FX as well.)
Edit: I also still think the gain staging is pretty weird. Everything is so quiet. I get why, but it would be cool if there was a digital-only (I assume this would be required) āunity gain modeā for utility applications.
Surprised to see speculation from multiple people that a MKIV is likely on the way, I really hope not and I believe a firmware update with additional effects and refinements is probably much more realistic. The FX model was a huge jump in functionality from the MKII and I think it still has legs.
