Introducing Analog Heat +FX

You‘re right, it isn‘t per se. Can‘t check right now, but if you set the Level on the left to 127, then you have 4 freely assignable knobs you can tweak, right?

YES! Something like this would be amazing on the small Digi boxes and on the AH+FX.

Yes technically it works but the problem is that the macro parameter pages are not easy to access (sub menu into sub menu, etc…) so in live situation, it’s very hard to use.

The new oxi meta module has me thinking….

Can the heat mk3 create transitional effects in a similar way?

IF ONLY the heat had a macro performance page like the Syntakt - this would be so so easy…. Perhaps assign a couple functions and lfo amounts to a single midi controller encoder to create crazy risers???

And then save these different types of transitional effects as presets?

Checking in here a year after this was released to see if this might be for me.

What’s the current state of affairs with the AHFX?

AHFX discussion traffic seems a bit slow. Any pointers to discussions in this 1400+ post thread (or others) I should read carefully if I’m considering get one of these? In general I’m interested in:

  • Have most initial bugs been squashed?
  • Are folks happy with the AHFX? Has it become a central piece of your rig?
  • Have you been able to get rid of other pedals/FX because the AHFX has taken over their duties?
  • Any particularly annoying or frustrating aspects to be aware of?

I’m very happy with mine.

I use it as an end-of-chain, record my synths through it, it’s a great partner for my Lyra & other synths, I use it to USB-out finished sounding jams into my iPhone, once I’ve tried it as a pre-Leslie distortion unit for a Hammond clone and it was absolutely killer…

I’ve never felt it was in any way essential to me, but it’s great at so many little things – don’t think I’ll be parting with it.

It definitely suffers as a result of being stuffed in the same box as the MK2. With all the functionality added on top, some of the workflows can get a bit convoluted.

Few other things that come to mind & a lot of folks seem to agree on:

  • a macro performance functionality would make this box soo much better. at the moment you can go for the byzantine option of controlling one (!) parameter with an expression pedal (lol) or you gotta construct an elaborate mess of midi scripts to get kinda close. feels like such a missed opportunity & one can only hope for a 1.10 fix

  • the new output gain settings, lfo slew etc. from fw 1.01 :+1:

  • the new preset load/save system from fw 1.01 :-1:

Yes !

I love minimalist setup and AH+FX is perfect for me in this case. What I really like about it is the enveloppe follower and the fact that LFOs can be triggered by incoming audio. Very unique and it can create very complex behavior linked to the dynamic of audio.

It replaced Oto Boum and Audiothingies Dr. A. Honestly, I don’t miss at all Oto Boum, I find AH+FX distorsions, filter and compression better. Honestly, I miss Dr. A :upside_down_face: and I regret selling it. Unmodulated, Delay & Reverb from AH+FX are nice but nothing in common with the Dr A’s. But when they are modulated, it starts to really shines.

Not the fastest UI. A lot of menu diving for an Elektron box. As said before, a macro performance mode is really missing.

The Analog Heat MK2 was quietly moved to the legacy catalog a few months ago. I don’t remember when exactly but now AH+FX is the sole unit in this category.

I’ve been wondering exactly the same… Have been looking for a nice end of chain box with a few effects (I’m using separate pedals/boxes and setup is getting annoying).

I see quite a few people using the AH+FX live, and when asked about it the response I often get is along the lines of “it’s nice but…”, with various small complaints or wishlist features (but they’re still using it, so :man_shrugging:).

Has anyone used Analog Heat +FX with an acid synth (i.e., TB/TT 303, TD-03, etc)? I have a couple of acid synths and I want to broaden their timbral possibilities with some distortion and occasionally some reverb. I though the Heat +FX might be a good candidate, since contains some different options in one box.

Thoughts?

I used it with my MEGAfm and I really like it. So can only recommend it

Really enjoyed these videos specially the first one. The FXs really transform the basic sound and rhythm. Could you explain what was going on in the first video (FX chain and sounds from the MegaFM)? If you can remember. Thanks.

Thank you!

I think i was using one of the presets but I’m not sure which one but I didn’t do much adjusting. Maybe some to the delay but don’t think so. But th interesting thing i feel is that the AHFX can really transform the sound a lot especially when adding the distortion and I think it makes really nice sounds.

Thanks. It sounds like a delay on the sound but the distortion and filtering is where the magic comes from. It can make the most average sound sources sound pleasing. I am using an old mixer preamp on the Roland T8 and this distortion brings melodic interest when adjusting the tone of drum sounds plus glues the sounds together. Like in you video where it looks like you are transposing the rhythmical sequence on the Oxi and getting nice melodic parts.

I might be missing something here, recently got an AH+FX and been cc mapping the FX paramiters, but I can’t find a value for each FX ‘bypass’ listed in the manual (similar to what would happen to if you pressed the y+n keys in the ‘FLOW’ menue). I’d like to have external ON/OFF buttons to quickly turn any single FX on/off… but don’t want to use the DRY/WET or MIX functions on each FX as they are already mapped to orther paramiters (for example the bitcrush dry/wet is inversly mapped to the note velocity input via cc). Seems like something that should be mappable over CC? the highest currently used cc value is 118 so enough values left to add a toggle for all eight FX for a future feature request maybe? - Unless it’s already possoible and i’ve missed something obvious…
