Introducing Analog Heat +FX

Technically yes. Saturation would be a softer drive pedal for guitarists. But of course it also depends on the genre. And since the AH+ can be used for all kinds of instruments it’s not really important what a guitarist might do.

Though there are a few reasons why on most pedalboards the overdrive/distortion pedals would come first or second in line.
If you put it behind reverb for example the reverb tail can get quite loud and can muddy up the sound. If it’s behind the delay every echo will be louder and can also clutter up a melody sequence or a rhythmical guitar/synth part.

And when you saturate/drive a signal a bit or a lot some noise gets added to the signal. And this noise gives the phaser or flanger a lot of higher frequencies to work with.

But this is just theory. Don’t take it too serious. Practically you never know exactly how a signal might sound with 2 or more effects behind it.
And i for myself had amazing results with very unconventional effect chains. Saturating the reverb tail can sound absolutely lovely. And then maybe a chorus on top of it and a short delay. That’s the beauty of the AH+. It’s very easy to switch the fx around and hear what you like.

says she with a mk2 and +FX?!?!

not sure what you are refering to, but I for sure won’t put the two after each other :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m still evaluating, though the startup preset of the +FX with an heavy industrial pattern I had on my Digitakt was pretty convincing …

two little somethings, Digitakt with Wavetables and my DFAM samples …

(based on the first AH +FX preset, towards the end i use bass focus to remove the low end, so i could add a kick from the Syntakt or A4 for example)

(distortion and a bit delay and that tape thingy)

Hi there

Well, I guess this is my first post on this forum !

I have had a Heat Mk1 since 2017 and just got a great deal on a B-Stock/returned Heat+FX - an offer I couldn’t refuse! My Mk1 has already gone to a new home just one day after mentioning on FB that I had upgraded - I have loved using my Mk1 and used it constantly - mainly for channel processing in Ableton using Overbridge - its been a great tool :black_heart:

When I first got the Mk1, I also used it for tracking stuff into Ableton but often felt I might be overcooking stuff so decided it was better to use it as post-production tool … however with the new +(digital)FX and extended modulation I am really hoping that I will be using it a lot more for ‘creative tracking/performance/sound design’ and also for some cool send/return experimental delays and verbs. All very exciting - to me anyway.

The only other Elektron device I own is a Model:Cycles, which I think sounds amazing. I have ‘too much kit’ (is that even a thing?) and unfortunately I don’t use it nearly enough - I find I forget how to use some of its functions, only to rediscover it after some head scratching and minor frustration … Not so with the Heat - I’m very much an ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ kind of producer and so anything and everything goes … Rather than a ‘end of chain’ device or ‘master channel sweetener’ I have great hopes for my +FX as a ‘creative audio conduit / idea committer’ - if that even makes sense to anyone :man_shrugging:

Anyways I’ve rambled too much but hopefully I can share some of my random discoveries / successes with you in due course!

Hmm, I wonder which shade will make it work best for dark industrial techno?

M:C plus any of the Heats makes a pretty awesome drum synth, just saying

I was pretty surprised the knob is not black, but just darker than MK2. Perhaps I replace it with something else.
Something like that, but without the dots.

Not a bad idea, I may replace mine with something similar
