Looks cool! I wasn’t sold on the sound demos but his previous synths sounded amazing so it will probably sound great.

This one has a much more appealing interface in my opinion

I didn’t know this is being produced in Bonn! (I live nearby)

EDIT:

Video of an earlier prototype presented at Superbooth last year. There are a couple more videos on YouTube. There is also a very long podcast (in German) that shows a more recent prototype. It’s more an interview to the creator than a demo of the device:

This is going to be very cool. Love the sound of the toroo; this should be more flexible and very interesting digital wngine. Plus 4 part multi timbran is all too rare these days as it goes so well with a sequencer like elektron

Yea, the size helps too, smaller than I thought, only as wide as the M:S.

The development process is very open. Nice. In addition to the project timeline on the website (which includes a mention to a prior project cancellation, nice too) there is this forum topic where the creator shares news and responds to questions and suggestions:

FWIW, this is where the sound demo gets interesting I think …

EDIT: Of course it doesn’t look like this any more, but I understand the sound capabilities are the same as the prototype shown, just a different UI.

Looks nice, kind of virus-y, but smaller. 4-part multitimbrality is very cool. I wonder what it’ll be able to do in terms of interesting sound design.

From facebook:

Guys 😳, you are already subscribing more on Kickstarter than the amount of early birds Manatees I can safely & sanely offer!
What should I do?
Remember: Manatee Kickstarter launches tonight, @ 17:00 GMT (or UTC+1). Better be quick, at least if you want that special deal.
And again, thanks for the support and your interest, it is very appreciated. See you tonight 😘

Snagged one. I’m excited!

I think it’ll reach its goal fairly quickly!

I imagine it will sell well enough to meet the funding goals - it would be cool if he was to release a follow-up video with a bit of deep dive into what the spectral oscillator can do. Not sure if it’s for me but that would likely be the part which would really differentiate it from the other synths I’ve got…

That’s a few hundred less than I expected, even at early-bird prices. I’m feeling pretty sanguine about this cute little rectangle.

I had guessed $699 (for earlybird) and it came in a hundred less. Still some available!

Personally, spectral resynthesis always sounds much better on paper than it does when I actually hear it in action. I have a similar reaction to granular synthesis.

I think the cheapest price is to order two, that was less, per synth, than the early bird I think.

You’re right, the double pack is great value.

I got an early bird on order. Very excited even if it ultimately isn’t for me.

I NEED IT lol

Same here, and this is why I’m not biting into any of the many interesting granular synth products. But this one with the spectral thing that I still need to understand… being a one person project based close to where I live… the compact and solid format and then the redesign to black and red… I had to bite.

Like the Nymphes, it looks like a very transparent synth to learn basic concepts and then be amazed and inspired by what others do with it.

PS: I thought about the double pack but it’s scheduled for February…

i snagged one at the early bird price, i’m a sucker for multitimbral stuff…

seems to promise a lot of modulation/expression options which will be good for live use…i’m excited to get my hands on it!
