Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01

The individual outs are before the internal mixer and FX sends, so you lose the use of the level and FX send controls.

You can either use the pedal via the send/return or just use the FX send like an individual out, but kill the track level and just use the FX send level instead.

Cheers. Makes sense. Getting some lovely sounds droning voice 2 into a blackhole pedal.

Another question, is the return jack stereo (TRS) or mono TR?

Mono.

Also note, when plugging the return jack you lose control/separation of the dry signal, so you’re forced to use the dry/wet control on the effect. This bugs me since now I can’t keep the dry signal playing and p-lock the send for spot effects. This acts more like an insert than a send/return.

My workaround is to use the send but not the return, and run the effects 100% wet into my interface.

Have anyone of you tried to go portable with the Perkons? As in playing in the park, the beach or at the Xmas market.

I´m thinking of setting a long term goal and learn the Perkons well enough to hit the streets and busking in the summer.

But what about power? Any recommendations for a good power bank?

Ideally something that could power a Cioks DC7, so I could use a exf pedal as well

https://www.thomann.de/de/cioks_dc7.htm

I’ve recently run a Soma Lyra 8 and several pedals (Chase Bliss Habit, Strymon Big Sky and one other) from a Cioks DC7 powered by the AC output of a 4-year-old Omnicharge 20 (AKA “Omni 20” these days) with no trouble. Didn’t time it or run to exhaustion but I definitely got a couple of hours with juice to spare in the Omnicharge.

The Lyra 8 isn’t a Perkons, of course, but assuming the Perkons uses Erica Synths’ usual 12V 1.0A wall PSU then my guess is they probably have a similar mAh power draw.

The Omnicharge is about the same height as the Cioks DC7 but a different footprint. Volumetrically, they’re roughly the same, though so nicely compact and portable. The internal engineering is first class.

With the right cable, Cioks works with Zen delay, which I think uses the same 12v DC as Perkons.

Thanks guys

I concur!

That was the third pedal in my setup but I’d forgotten until youu mentioned it.

Correction: The Cioks green-tipped 2.5mm centre positive Standard Flex cable did the trick. (previously thought I’d used a polarity converter cable but that was for a different battery-powered setup).

I finally got my shipping notification and I should receive my unit shortly. Perfect Christmas gift!! For reference, I placed my order back in July this year.

I’ve searched the topic and I don’t think this has been discussed again since I asked about it some time ago, but there is a deck saver for Perkons available now. I will probably buy mine from MusicStore - it seems to be available in other online stores as well. A bit pricey for a piece of plastic but it is what it is, I guess.

Can’t wait to receive it!

Ordered in July, shipped Dec 16 and received today! Already loving this thing even more than I expected!

Found this topic when searching for Odds behavior and looks like the current implementation is intended, but don’t quite understand why. Apologies for rehashing, but what I was trying to program is to add some flair every 2nd play through which as others previously mentioned is how Odds are described in the manual, but ES seems to be communicating that the manual is backwards, not the current Odds implementation.

If the current implementation is intended, how would one program flair on the second pass? Can you perhaps set Odds on muting a note or only on triggering a note?

Plastic? It’s all metal isn’t it?

They meant the decksaver.

I got to try one of these out a few days ago. Videos really undersold how massive it is, and how good it sounds. I can’t justify the sheer amount of space it would take up but I would be lying if I said I didn’t really want one now.

I’d love to see a battle comparison of the Perkons with Rytm and Jomox Alphabase.

Funny, i saw my first Perkons last tuesday in a friend studio and we made a battle AR vs Perkons.
I wanted a Perkons since begening, follow the differents threads about it, and having eard and tested one confort me in AR love.
It was just one time. We will makes other afternoon in fun techno battles, so maybe my opinion will change. But for the moment my original GAS desappears.

They have nothing in common though. Other than doing something with drums.

You’re right.
In fact we use them for that

That’s why, me my friend and our drum boxes had done and will do other techno drum battles.

My thought, after this first meeting :
Perkons is beautiful, nice looking box (aesthetic is very important to me), a bit light when in hands, kind of deception for me, cause i was imagining a fat drumbox, according to the form factor (stupidly minded i can be sometimes, i had the idea of quality in gear weight…)
Then, the tracks is the thing of this box. That’s what makes my eyes been hooked by this box. What a marvellous idea, dream i would say.
Very pertinent. Everything under visual control.
The sound is tipicaly and logicaly in Erica synth style. As fan of industrial and minimalist techno, that could be interesting for me.
But overall, during this meeting with Perkons i haven’t been charmed by it, and really in term of drum machine, what it is first, i do really prefer my AR.
I had and played with lot of drum machines, so i can now understand if this or that gear is more adapted to my drumbox practice.
With all good prethough i had for it, some thing makes me really understand why AR is the drum machine for my style.
That’s all i wanted to say when i wrote this post. Very personal oriented vision, not a technical test that could be reference :innocent:

I think it means that you should put those fills down yourself when you get to the 4th bar.

I ended up selling my Perkons. I liked the sounds, but I wasn’t a fan of the sequencer due to how the conditional trigs worked. I ended up not using them and I felt like I was limited to a 16-step sequencer, which I really dislike for drum machines.
