When and how did they announce a new firmware?
They never really announced it. They just mentioned at some point that they’re working on a new firmware.
Not really. They said they were cooking up a “major update”. Which naturally got people’s attention. And 9 months later I think it is fair for them to wonder what the status of the update is.
If it was a minor thing with some bug fixes. I doubt anyone would sweat it but when you see “major update” that gets people excited.
Maybe we can all remember this thread the next time someone asks “why doesn’t (company) just publish their product roadmap for updates?”
Because product development takes many twists and turns, it rarely goes exactly as planned, and customers don’t like to be jerked around with shifting expectations.
This is why saying nothing is generally the wisest strategy.
Anyway, hopefully they’re still working on it and you guys get an amazing update soon, just taking longer than expected to iron out the bugs.
I haven’t seen anyone doing that, just asking if there is any news of the major update coming. Which is fine and really not a big deal unless you are incredibly sensitive.
And it’s not nonsense for someone to get excited about a potential major update to gear they use. It’s pretty normal.
Literally no one is throwing their toys out the pram over this.
Ok. I deleted my posts. I imagined talk of Erica fucking up or keeping their traps shut.
don’t say these things, I’m trying to make excuses to not buy one!
I wonder if they would ever go semi-open source like Bastl did. I think the Perkons UI is so genius it would be amazing if they let the community make their own engines. Erica are heroes for keeping the LXR alive, so they know it is cool to do.
If I were in their shoes, I certainly wouldn’t do that
I hear y’all but on the flip side, I’m glad they are still small-medium enough to not be a company run by perfect PR decisions and focus grouped product roll outs.
It was sloppy, but I personally didn’t have any kind of expectation of a time frame when I saw their message. It just read as a random dev ensuring us something is coming, eventually.
In an age where inmusic & friends are vying to be one of the two companies you get your bloop boxes from, I’ll take a little messy PR from a comparatively small company consistently churning out cool shit.
I’ll take that whiff of a fart of a promise. Man, I hope it’s more algos/modes - and if I’m really dreaming… like multiple new algos that are, alongside the old ones, now freely assignable to all 4 voices. Even if this was a one time setup on the SD card and not something in machine, it would open up so much.

Possible that it be perkons 2? Big update rumors…
With better sample workflow…?
Absolutely!
I mean, I’m not sitting here waiting for it or anything, I like the device as it is. Best thing I ever bought!
This also my main wishlist! Freely assignable algos and loads more of them. Wow wow wow!
Yes swapping / mixing algos would be very cool
Small contribution for PERKONS users.
I made a small macOS utility for my PERKONS sample workflow and thought it might be useful to others.
It takes three WAV files and converts them into PERKONS-ready 1.wav, 2.wav, and 3.wav files:
- mono
- 16-bit PCM
- 48 kHz
- kept under the 256 KB total limit
It’s early/best-effort, macOS only, and the current prebuilt app is Apple Silicon only. It’s also not Apple-notarized, so if you prefer not to run the app bundle, the source is available and it can be built locally with Swift.

Let me know if you find it useful, broken, or missing something obvious.
I recorded a zenful number today! First track in months ![]()
I just received my beautiful new Perkons-I’ve been spending hours with it. I have been having some trouble w the ratcheting protocol : sometimes it works perfectly but sometimes instead of ratcheting, the whole set-patch gets cleared…. Probably on me no doubt- but thought I’d run it by you good folks. Any trouble with this?
It’s a brand new Perkons HD-01 (2026) - I bought it from Sweetwater.
It sounds like you may not be holding down the step/trigger you want to affect while you press the ratchet button. This would result in entering the pattern selection mode - which would clear your pattern on the next button press.
yeah took me a minute with the button combos - sometimes to happy places but sometimes to blanks spaces too!
