i had to because it stopped saving my patters after filling up two banks and the new firmware sorted it out

i must say i was skeptical when perkons first come out, having had machinedrum since lockdown i thought i knew, but perkons sound is so organic and the interface is so playable

Put the Syntrx rack ears on my Perkons and racked in the left wing of my desk. The angle is not correct due to the Perkons case slope so will drill new holes into the rack ear where it connects to the Perkons to get it flush but it will do for now. Being all black its not too noticeable to annoy me but will sort it out anyhow.
Nice to have it on the wing of my desk rather than taking up my entire central desk space. It looked a bit odd in my Jaspers for some reason due to the size and shape.

Think it’s the camera making it look far away. I can shift my chair over to each wing when playing with my outboard gear so will be doing same here if not standing

Are you saying they’re sonically similar or the workflow? Please expand on this statement. (i’m genuinely curious as I really liked the sound of the Tanzbär)
How does this work, do the holes in the bracket line up with the holes that hold the wood panels on?
Yes they line up with the holes but if you look close the angle at the bottom is not flush due to the Perkons case being angled. Look at bottom left to see what I mean

It’s not the same sonically at all. Tanzbar is my best sounding machine. Nothing like it. And I love Erica gear.

Mostly sonically.
If we’re talking about sound, then yes, I think they share some similarities.
Tanzbär has more sounds and the balance between them is excellent. But over time I realized that I don’t actually need that many drum voices for the music I make. To me, it also felt like a rather surgical instrument. Once dialed in, I rarely felt the need to manipulate it much during a performance.
The workflow never really clicked with me either. Also, despite being careful with mine, buttons and pots started failing over time, so I’d definitely pay attention to that when buying one used.
I spent a long time looking for a replacement and somehow ended up with a Perkons. Funny enough, it became my dream drum machine despite all its limitations.
One thing I’ve learned after owning different drum machines is that everything that can sound extreme can also sound gentle, but the opposite is rarely true.
That’s one of the reasons I like HexDrums. The workflow is ridiculously direct, the sweet spots are easy to find, and the sound is huge. Honestly, no YouTube demo really captures the energy of that machine.
Tanzbär still has its own charm and character, no question. But if I had to choose today, I’d probably take HexDrums.
That said, I always seem to come back to the Perkons =]

Question for ya’ll and apologies if this has been asked before. What functions don’t you get if you connect the outs for each voice to a mixer individually vs using the main out only? I get the compressor bit (my mixer has so no worries there) - but does everything else work? P-lock, delay fx, etc.
If it’s covered in the manual, feel free to tell me to RTFM.
